The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thrul fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Samvesu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Thrul throws a sloppy head kick
and Samvesu counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Samvesu is trying to drag Thrul to the mat but Thrul just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Thrul stands up over Samvesu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Samvesu isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Thrul stacks Samvesu on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Thrul!
Thrul lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Samvesu down.

Thrul comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Samvesu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Samvesu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thrul manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Samvesu has Thrul in his guard.
