PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kari Parisyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parisyen comes into the arena with Hari ng Tondo blaring out of the sound system. Jeremy Pettis will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kari Parisyen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis throws a body punch but Parisyen moves out of range.
It looked like Parisyen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Parisyen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Parisyen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pettis on the side of the head.
Parisyen takes a swing at Pettis's ribcage but misses.
Nice jab there from Pettis.
A jab from Pettis finds it's way through Parisyen's defenses.
Parisyen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pettis as he avoids it easily.
Pettis blocks the body kick.
Pettis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parisyen tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Pettis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Parisyen missing with a left hand there. Pettis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pettis looks to land a left hand but Parisyen moved out of range nicely.
Pettis throws a hook to the side of Parisyen's head but Parisyen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Parisyen throws a quick counter kick to the body but Pettis avoids it.
Parisyen walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pettis checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Parisyen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Parisyen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Parisyen moves out of range of the strikes.
Parisyen throws a lazy body kick
and Pettis counters with a straight right hand.
Jeremy Pettis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Parisyen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pettis digs a good hook to Parisyen's body.
Pettis leaves Parisyen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pettis's jab looks to have found its range, popping Parisyen under the eye.
Pettis scores with a shot to the body.
Pettis misses the jab.
Parisyen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Pettis connects with a single shot there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Parisyen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pettis circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kari Parisyen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parisyen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Parisyen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Pettis throws out a powerful jab.
Parisyen tries for a takedown but Pettis circles away easily
and Pettis counters with a stiff right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parisyen misses with a double jab
and Parisyen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pettis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Parisyen on the side of the head.
Pettis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Parisyen.
A punch lands to the side of Parisyen 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Parisyen wants to clinch up but Pettis keeps it at a distance.
Pettis might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Parisyen misses the body punch
and Parisyen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pettis closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Parisyen! Pettis dives in looking to finish! Parisyen is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Pettis!
Jeremy Pettis tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
In defeat, Kari Parisyen stepped up to the mic, saying 'I give it up to my opponent. He fought good tonight.'.
