Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wang Chung! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Dos Santos! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chung looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Dos Santos sizes up Chung with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Cain Dos Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chung closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chung lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dos Santos keeping full guard, as Chung tries to pass. Chung won't allow Dos Santos to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dos Santos working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chung. Dos Santos can't keep his opponent in guard - Chung advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Chung is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dos Santos can do anything to dispel that myth. Chung tries to control but Dos Santos wriggling away. Chung breaks from Dos Santos's wrist control and lands an elbow. Dos Santos is trying to stand but he's just given Chung his back. Dos Santos is in bad spot here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chung lands with a hammerfist to the side of Dos Santos's head.
It looks like Cain Dos Santos has been cut. Chung is landing with strikes from the back. Dos Santos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chung. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chung is looking to control Dos Santos but Dos Santos is wriggling around and keeping busy. Dos Santos wants to escape the position.
Chung scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
That has opened up Cain Dos Santos's cut even more. Dos Santos preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Chung. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dos Santos trying to get back to his feet but Chung is in full control for now. Chung is looking to control Dos Santos but Dos Santos is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dos Santos wants to get back to his feet. Dos Santos showing good submission defense here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chung is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Dos Santos has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Chung has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Dos Santos taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Chung doesn't care though - he's delighted!
