Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Ponjev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall has chosen Sam Hall as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Ponjev! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Hall! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall staying out of range there. Hall lands an overhand right. Ponjev has his takedown stuffed and Hall counters with a series of strikes. Ponjev will be more careful next time no doubt. Ponjev misses with a lunging right hand
and Hall counters with a straight right hand. Ponjev shoots in and drives through. Hall sprawls well. Ponjev throws a right hand that misses
enabling Hall to counter with a crisp jab. Ponjev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Hall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ponjev. Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ponjev was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall. Ponjev appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Hall throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ponjev stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Nice uppercut lands for Hall. That snapped Ponjev's head back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ponjev misses with a looping right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ponjev throws a body shot but no joy. Hall's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ponjev under the eye. Ponjev connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hall's hands. Hall lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hall looks to throw the jab but Ponjev is out of range. Ponjev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Ponjev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ponjev. Nice defenses there by Hall. Hall blocks a leg kick. Hall swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hall misses with a hook. Nice defenses there by Ponjev.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ponjev takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nice uppercut there from Hall. Hall delivers a nice body kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice cross by Hall. Hall blocks a jab. Hall looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Hall lands a nice shot to the body.
Ponjev fails with the takedown. Hall throws a sloppy head kick and Ponjev moves out of range easily. Hall scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. A punch lands to the side of Hall 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ponjev throws a hook but Hall avoids it easily. Ponjev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nice takedown defense from Hall. No joy for Ponjev on that attempt. Hall scores with a nice right hand.
Hall lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hall scores with a shot to the body.
Hall has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Ponjev checks the leg kick. A big right from Ponjev misses. Hall scores with a decent looking hook. Ponjev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hall can pounce on him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ponjev throws a poor cross that misses
and Hall counters with a lovely straight right hand! Hall displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ponjev throws out the jab. Hall lands a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hall feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ponjev's calf. Ponjev misses with a looping left. Ponjev pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The fighters circle momentarily. Hall darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Ponjev uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hall. Hall dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Ponjev takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Hall ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Hall dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Ponjev moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Hall steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ponjev. Hall has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ponjev lands the left hand. Sam Hall seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hall fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ponjev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Ponjev misses with a takedown attempt and Hall counters with a nice leg kick. Hall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ponjev. Ponjev on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ponjev slips a straight right by Hall. Ponjev went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Hall feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ponjevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ponjev is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hall. Hall lands a left and a right that send Ponjev crashing to the mat, dazed. Hall thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Ponjev is rocked! Ponjev throws a right hand that misses
and Hall rattles Ponjev with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Ponjev tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Hall dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Ponjev stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sam Hall! Sam Hall is the new welterweight champion! Our winner, Sam Hall, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
