Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jah Greger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Natanael Montes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Natanael Montes enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montes is looking to clinch but Greger is avoiding it.
Montes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Montes is looking to clinch. Nice sprawl there from Montes as Greger shoots in. Montes shoots and misses and Greger counters with a single leg into guard. Montes didn't expect that. Greger preventing the sweep. Greger being controlled here momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Greger trying to control but Montes is working from the bottom. Montes trying to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Greger thows a big elbow that misses. Greger wants to pass the guard but Montes is keeping the position. Greger postures up in Montes's guard and throws a big left but Montes blocks it.

Montes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Montes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Montes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Montes wants to sweep here but Greger controlling him for the moment. Greger throwing strikes but missing. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Greger scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Montes wants to get back to full guard. Greger is pressing down on Montes's thigh, looking to free his foot. Montes is holding on for now. Montes is looking to control Greger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Montes avoid being mounted? Montes looks gassed! Greger thows a huge punch but Montes dodges it nicely.
Montes is not content to let Greger control the position. Montes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Montes. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Montes controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greger trying to control but Montes is working from the bottom. Greger trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Greger wants to control from the top but Montes keeps moving. Montes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Greger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Montes wants to sweep but no luck. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Montes trying to keep a closed guard but Greger is proving a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Greger shoots in but Montes avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jah Greger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Montes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Greger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montes gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Greger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Greger controlling from the full mount. Greger lands a heavy elbow. Greger landing strikes from the mount. Montes is squirming around, avoiding Greger's attempts to control the action. Montes tries to hold on but Greger pushes him away. Montes has his takedown stuffed and Greger counters with a takedown into side control. Montes is trying to get back to half guard. Montes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Greger is trying to control the action in half guard but Montes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Greger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Montes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montes can do anything to dispel that myth. Greger is looking to take a break and control but Montes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Greger is thwarting Montes's attempts to control the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Montes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Greger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Greger in particular looking to stall. Montes wants to improve his position but Greger is controlling well.

Jah Greger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Montes is trying to maintain the position but Greger is very close to passing his half guard. Montes trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Greger is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Montes. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Greger biding his time, looking for the opening.
Montes looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Greger has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Montes trying to control the position but Greger manages to sink in the hooks. Greger lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Montes hold on?!

Greger is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Despite being in the dominant position, Natanael Montes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Greger looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Montes wants to get back to full guard. Greger trying to mount his opponent but Montes defends it. Montes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Greger is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Greger seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Greger controlling the action here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Montes shoots and misses and Greger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Montes's guard. Greger postures up.
Greger works over Montes with some ground and pound from guard. Greger trying to control the position from guard on top but Montes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Montes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greger thows a big elbow that misses. Greger throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Montes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. No luck for Greger with that takedown attempt. Montes fails to land with a series of punches.
Montes tries for a takedown but Greger circles away easily and Greger counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jah Greger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Natanael Montes. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Montes holds on and takes a little breather. Montes keeping moving, preventing Greger from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Greger is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Montes pulls Greger in to control the position. Greger wants to control from the top but Montes keeps moving. Montes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Greger postures up.
