PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryuga Hideki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Rowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuga Hideki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Rowler!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hideki doesn't manage to clinch there - Rowler circles away.
Hideki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rowler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rowler lands in his opponent's guard.

Rowler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hideki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rowler has Hideki in his guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rowler is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Rowler is looking for a triangle but Hideki pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Eric Rowler's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Hideki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rowler thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hideki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rowler is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Rowler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hideki wants to get up but he can't break Rowler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hideki trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Rowler scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Rowler lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hideki!

Rowler wants to finish this one by submission but Hideki is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rowler.
Rowler throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hideki because Rowler loaded up on that one.

Rowler won't let Hideki get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Rowler jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hideki is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hideki and Rowler has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hideki pushes Rowler away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rowler gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Rowler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
