Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Skip Tumilue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Ruska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Ruska will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Skip Tumilue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Ruska!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruska gets a clinch.
Ruska wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tumilue leaning his opponent against the cage.
Ruska tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ruska lands a hook to the side of the head.

Tumilue pulls guard successfully.

Tumilue is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Ruska drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tumilue manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruska has Tumilue in his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ruska is on top in guard.
Tumilue seems keen to control Ruska's posture.
Ruska missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Tumilue working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ruska.
Ruska throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Ruska thows a big elbow that misses.

Tumilue wants to sweep here but Ruska controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ruska moves in looking to clinch but Tumilue pushes him off.
Tumilue takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Tumilue on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ruska. Ruska obviously looking to wear him down.
Ruska doesn't manage to clinch there - Tumilue circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tumilue fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ruska is looking to clinch.

Ruska clinches with his opponent.

Tumilue breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Ruska as Tumilue shoots in.
Tumilue is breathing heavily.
Ruska lands a jab-cross combination.
Tumilue takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Ruska closes the distance and clinches.
Tumilue trying to stall but Ruska improves his position.
Tumilue tries to pull guard but Ruska won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Skip Tumilue. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tumilue keeps control of Ruska as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Ruska breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ruska tests Tumilue's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dan Ruska is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice takedown defense from Ruska. No joy for Tumilue on that attempt.

Tumilue gets a takedown into half guard.
Ruska slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Tumilue has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tumilue wants to stand but Ruska has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Tumilue tries to free his leg and advance position but Ruska is retaining full guard.
Ruska is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Tumilue gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tumilue swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruska.
Tumilue shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A combination from Ruska does no damage.
Tumilue gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Tumilue drags the fight down to the ground.

Ruska drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tumilue manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruska has Tumilue in his guard.

Tumilue makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Tumilue wants to control from the top but Ruska keeps moving.
Tumilue looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Ruska keeping moving, preventing Tumilue from controlling successfully.
Tumilue controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Skip Tumilue will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Tumilue shoots in but Ruska avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ruska is looking to clinch.
Ruska cracks a nice hook into Tumilue's ribs.
Tumilue has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Tumilue there as he acknowledges the shot.

Ruska clinches with his opponent.

Ruska pulls Tumilue into guard.
Tumilue slips nicely into half guard.
Tumilue throws a strike but Ruska avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Tumilue avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruska working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Tumilue has passed into half guard!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tumilue lands with a punch from half guard.

Ruska blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tumilue.
Ruska is refusing to be controlled, as Tumilue sits in half guard.
Ruska misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Tumilue seems to be working for a kimura but Ruska defends the submission attempt.
Tumilue is trying to control the action in half guard but Ruska is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ruska is looking to improve his position.
Tumilue stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tumilue fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruska throws out a loose jab but Tumilue uses good head movement to avoid it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tumilue, as that shot connected.
Tumilue falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Ruska to counter with a crisp jab.

Ruska has closed the distance and engaged Tumilue in a clinch.

Tumilue escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tumilue will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Tumilue misses with a takedown attempt - Ruska sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Skip Tumilue. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ruska moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Ruska throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tumilue throws a leg kick that is checked
and Ruska counters with a nice uppercut.
Ruska doesn't manage to clinch there - Tumilue circles away.
Tumilue tries to clinch but Ruska is having none of it.

Ruska closes the distance and clinches.
Still in the clinch, Ruska scores with a nice short uppercut.
Tumilue drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Tumilue jumps into guard, dragging Ruska to the mat.

Tumilue keeping moving, preventing Ruska from controlling successfully.

Tumilue is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ruska rolls with it to try and escape but Tumilue cranks on the arm and Ruska is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
