Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Okkuke Jiizu Okunaba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Petri Granlund! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Granlund fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Granlund takes a swing at Okunaba's ribcage but misses. Granlund lands with a slapping head kick. Okunaba gets a clinch. Okunaba misses with a punch to the body.
Okunaba tries a body shot but Granlund blocks it.
Okunaba lands with a right to the head. Okunaba definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Okunaba misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nice body punch from Granlund. Okunaba changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Granlund fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Granlund loads up on a big right hand but Okunaba slips the punch. Okunaba half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Granlund lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Granlund throws a good cross that connects.
Granlund has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Granlund scores with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Granlund works Okunaba's body with a nice hook. A bone on bone clash there as Okunaba blocks the leg kick.
Granlund cracks Okunaba with a right hand to the side of the head. Okunaba tries to close the distance and clinch up but Granlund swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okunaba scores with a takedown into Granlund's guard. Okunaba passes Granlund's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Granlund trying to control but Okunaba postures up.
Granlund really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Okunaba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Okunaba is trying to control the action in half guard but Granlund is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Okunaba thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Granlund's head. Okunaba is looking to take a break and control but Granlund is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Okunaba working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Granlund is trying to control but can't.

Okunaba thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Granlund is looking to control Okunaba's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Granlund avoid being mounted? Okunaba is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Okunaba passes to full mount! Okunaba tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Okunaba trying to control but he's not successful this time. Okunaba is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Granlund can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Granlund is squirming around, avoiding Okunaba's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Okunaba dominating with strikes here. Granlund tries to hold on but Okunaba postures up. Okunaba scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Okunaba raining down hammerfists from mount. Okunaba putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Okunaba fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Granlund is rocked! Oooooh, big shot lands for Okunaba! Granlund is hurt baaadly! Okunaba is firing away with more strikes - Granlund is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
