Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Acton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Varuk Assault! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Assault looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Assault throws a right hand that Acton ducks under and follows up with a left that Acton also avoids with ease. Assault closes this distance looking for a takedown but Acton circles away. Acton feints and as Assault raises his hands in defense, Acton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Acton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Assault wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Acton manages to pass to side control. Assault is defending against the submission attempts here by Acton.
Acton missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Acton slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acton thows a huge punch but Assault dodges it nicely.
Assault wants to improve his position but Acton is controlling well.
Acton wants to take a breather but Assault is having none of it. Acton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Acton unloading with bombs! Assault defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Acton. Acton controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Acton looking for a guillotine from mount but Assault is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Assault is desperately trying to improve his position but Acton has a good base and remains in mount. Assault gets back to half guard. Assault is trying to get back to full guard. Acton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Acton tries to pass to full mount but Assault defends it. Assault is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Acton has latched onto it... Big trouble! Acton pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Assault is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Acton!
