The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Palmer quickly recovers to half guard.
Palmer on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Alves stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Alves throws a big right hand that misses.
Alves engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Alves working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
