PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cobra Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel comes into the arena with Sugar Ray - Mean Machine blaring out of the sound system. Lee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Nothingman. Mike Steel has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Cobra Lee!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steel tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.

Cobra Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Steel is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Steel shoots for a double leg takedown but Lee sprawls well. He's pushed Steel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lee throws a series of punches but Steel avoids them all with ease.

Steel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Steel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Steel. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Lee is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Steel had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Steel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lee's waist but Lee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steel off to one side.
Steel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Steel shoots in looking for a takedown. Lee tries to sprawl out of it but Steel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lee moves into range and clinches up with Steel.
Steel is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Steel tries to pull guard but Lee won't allow it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Steel persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lee to the mat! Lee manages to get full guard.

Steel can't escape the position.

Cobra Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lee throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Steel on the side of the head.
Steel takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Lee pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Steel clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage.

Steel scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Steel is pushing down on Lee's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lee is fighting to maintain full guard but Steel has managed to sneak the leg through.

Steel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Steel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lee does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Steel throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lee preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Lee regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Steel.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lee is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Steel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lee looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Steel is defending well. Lee quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Steel has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Lee celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cobra Lee!
