PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kelly Delaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marek Strzelba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marek Strzelba will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kelly Delaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marek Strzelba!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strzelba changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Delaney looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Strzelba tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Strzelba has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Strzelba decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Strzelba gets a double leg takedown into Delaney's guard.
Delaney wants to stand and escape but Strzelba is having none of it.
Strzelba trying to stand up but can't free himself from Delaney's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Strzelba is pushing down on Delaney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Delaney is fighting to maintain full guard but Strzelba has managed to sneak the leg through.

Strzelba slips a nice elbow through Delaney's hands, connecting with Delaney's forehead.

Strzelba thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Delaney's head.
Strzelba wants to stand but Delaney has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Delaney is pressing down on Strzelba's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Delaney keeping moving, preventing Strzelba from controlling successfully.
Strzelba has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Amsterdam MMA gym - $ 45. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Strzelba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Strzelba tries to score with some ground and pound. Delaney controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Strzelba throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Strzelba creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Delaney sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Strzelba decides to stand up, so the ref orders Delaney to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marek Strzelba dominated that round.

Strzelba closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Delaney did well to prevent Strzelba getting side control.

Strzelba is looking for a kimura but Delaney is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Strzelba to get the leverage.
Strzelba wants to pass the guard but Delaney is defending well.
Delaney makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Delaney.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Strzelba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Delaney swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Strzelba wants to get up but he can't break Delaney's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Strzelba passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Strzelba wants to stand but Delaney has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Delaney wants to stand and escape but Strzelba is having none of it.

Strzelba lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Strzelba loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Strzelba has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Delaney defend it? Strzelba steps over the head and cranks it - Delaney is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Strzelba!
