Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Sappy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Dub!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Francis DeMontford and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dub clinches up with Sappy and pushes him back against the cage.
Dub is trying to break free.
Dub successfully pulls guard.
Dub working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sappy.
Sappy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sappy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dub keeping moving, preventing Sappy from controlling successfully.
Sappy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dub wants to stand up but Sappy is controlling him.
Sappy trying to control the position from guard on top but Dub is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dub has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Sappy is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Sappy breaks the clinch.
Sappy shoots in but Dub avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mike Dub seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Sappy.
Dub closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dub wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sappy jumps guard but Dub turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Dub on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Dub prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Sappy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sappy is trying to drag Dub to the mat but Dub just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sappy fails to pull guard.
Dub is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Sappy using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dub has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sappy misses with the head strike.
The referee calls for Dub to work.
Sappy tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dub jumps guard and drags Sappy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dub uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sappy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dub throws a counter combo.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Dub lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sappy backs up against the cage.
It looks like Bob Sappy has been cut.
Sappy is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sappy gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dub.
Dub instigates a clinch.
Dub's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dub lands with a right hand.
Dub thuds a left hand into Sappy's body.
Dub paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Dub drops Sappy with a beautiful combination! Sappy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Dub is looking for the KO!
Sappy is rocked!
Sappy walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Dub swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mike Dub!
Mike Dub decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
