Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Riley Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Jacobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riley Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Jacobi!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobi sizes up Woods with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


It looks like Riley Woods has been cut.

Jacobi closes the distance and clinches.

Jacobi has Woods pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jacobi pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Woods tumbling to the mat - Jacobi dives into Woods's guard.

Woods could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jacobi is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Woods is looking to control Jacobi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Woods avoid being mounted?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Woods seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jacobi wants to control from the top but Woods keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jacobi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Woods, pushing him back against the cage.

Jacobi lands a nice shot to the body.

Jacobi gets control of Woods's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jacobi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Woods is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jacobi controls Woods momentarily but Woods frees himself.
Jacobi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jacobi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Woods bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jacobi's guard.

Jacobi has a closed guard, preventing Woods from standing up.
Woods wants to control from the top but Jacobi keeps moving.
Woods is looking to work some ground and pound but Jacobi has wrist control.
Woods trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jacobi's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jacobi has momentary wrist control but Woods slips an elbow through the middle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jacobi is on top in guard.

Jacobi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jacobi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Woods is not content to let Jacobi control the position.
Jacobi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Woods wants to control but Jacobi postures up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jacobi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Woods is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jacobi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Woods.

Woods is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jacobi is just riding it out for now. Woods eventually gives up the hold.

Woods is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jacobi defends it well.
Woods has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Woods throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jacobi to regain full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Woods is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jacobi bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Woods's head backwards.
Jacobi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jacobi throws a left that rocks Woods and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Jacobi dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Woods regain composure!
Jacobi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Woods keeps working.

Woods is not content to let Jacobi control the position.

Jacobi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Woods has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jacobi but great work by Woods.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
What's Jacobi going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Woods working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jacobi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Woods. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Woods is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jacobi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Woods tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Woods has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jacobi tries to buck Woods off but Woods is having none of it.
Woods in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Brandon Jacobi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jacobi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
