The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wagner is defended easily by Perez.
Perez misses with a body punch
and Wagner counters with a nice uppercut.
Perez wants to clinch.

Wagner gets a double leg takedown into Perez's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Perez is looking to stand up but Wagner isn't so interested in that idea.
Wagner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wagner looking to sit in guard and control but Perez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wagner is trying to control the position but Perez postures up.
Perez prevents Wagner from getting back to his feet.
Wagner has a closed guard, preventing Perez from standing up.

Perez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez wants to get up but he can't break Wagner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Perez passes into half guard.
Perez scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Wagner tries to kick Perez off but Perez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wagner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Perez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wagner defends it well.
Perez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wagner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Perez seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Wagner is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
