Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Mata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Travis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Mata! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mata clinches up with Travis and pushes him back against the cage. Mata wants to break free but Travis has control.

Travis is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mata is defending well for now. Travis content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Travis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Travis moves in looking to clinch but Mata pushes him off. Mata throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Travis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Mata rushes Travis and presses him up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mata jumps guard but Travis stands there with Mata around his waist. Mata gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Mata paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Mata tries to circle away but Travis has him pinned against the cage. Mata being controlled against the cage. Mata is trying to break the clinch but Travis has him pressed against the cage. Travis tries a body shot but Mata blocks it.

Mata is looking to break free of the clinch but Travis has double underhooks. Mata misses with a knee strike.

Travis is defending well against a takedown attempt. Mata tries to land knees in the clinch but Travis avoids the damage to the body. Travis manages to break the clinch.

Mata throws a combination that misses and Travis counters with a three punch combo that has Mata backing up. Mata nods at Travis to acknowledge the strikes. Oooh a lovely combination from Mata sends Travis down but not out. Mata dives into side control looking to finish. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Travis tries to bench press Mata off him but Mata keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mata prevents Travis from escaping the position. Mata throwing shots but missing, from side control. Travis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Travis avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mata. Mata tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mata has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Travis is looking to get back to his feet here but Mata is keeping cool and he's managed to take Travis's back. Mata is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Travis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Mata throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Even with his hooks in, Mata manages to miss with strikes from the back. Travis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Travis preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Mata. Travis covering up well and avoiding damage. Mata avoiding Travis 's attempts to control his hands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonathan Mata dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carlos Travis's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Travis misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mata.
Mata is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Travis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Travis breaks from the clinch.

Mata gets a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Travis cracks Mata with a nice body shot. Mata is trying to break free. Travis is pressed up against the cage. Mata has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Travis down to the mat. Travis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mata with a lazy takedown attempt and Travis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Carlos Travis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Mata.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mata pushes Travis up against the cage in a clinch. Mata tries to break the clinch but Travis is controlling the position. Mata tries to break free but Travis pushes him back against the cage. Mata wants to take the fight to the mat but Travis manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Mata is breathing heavily. Travis prevents a takedown attempt there.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Mata. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Travis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mata shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Travis as he jumps to the side. Travis fails with the takedown and Mata counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Jonathan Mata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mata misses with a wild combination.
Mata has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mata shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Travis but Travis pushes him off and we're back to square one. Travis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Mata misses with a double jab
and Travis moves into the clinch. Mata wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Travis connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mata's face.
It looks like Jonathan Mata has been cut. Travis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mata shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Travis counters with a head kick that drops Mata to the mat! Mata scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mata misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. It looked like Travis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Travis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mata looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Travis is working Mata over with some ground and pound from side control. Travis working the head and body with strikes. Travis connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mata some visible discomfort.
Travis scores with a couple of short elbows. Mata takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Travis lands a nice forearm strike. Travis working the ground and pound. Travis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mata is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Travis landing strikes. Check out the look on Travis's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Carlos Travis dominated that second round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

and Travis counters with a three punch combo that has Mata backing up. Mata nods at Travis to acknowledge the strikes. Travis throws a right hand that Mata ducks under and follows up with a left that Mata also avoids with ease. Mata blocks a head kick by Travis.

Travis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mata will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Carlos Travis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Travis avoids the head kick by Mata.
Travis appears to be looking for a big counter. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mata, as that shot connected.
Mata throws a head kick but Travis moves out of range.
Travis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Carlos Travis has scored more points in the clinch so far. Travis breaks the clinch.
Travis wants to clinch up but Mata keeps it at a distance. Travis moves out of range as Mata throws a body kick.
Mata scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mata shoots in and drives through. Travis sprawls well. Mata lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Travis circles away quickly and effectively. An inside leg kick from Mata misses. Travis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Travis misses with a two punch combination.
Mata tries to keep at a distance but Travis has taken the fight into the clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mata wants to break the clinch but can't.
Travis prevents Mata from breaking the clinch. Travis lands an elbow inside. Travis stalling in the clinch but Mata improves position. Travis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Travis will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mata up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mata wants to get back to striking at distance but Travis won't allow it.

Mata has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Travis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Carlos Travis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Mata. Travis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. The fight moves into the clinch position. Travis missing with knees to the body.
Mata wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mata tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Travis lands an elbow inside. Mata tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Travis just stands there and leans against the cage. Travis scores with a shoulder strike. Mata prevents a body shot from Travis. Mata looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Travis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mata is keeping busy. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Travis has Mata pressed against the cage.
Travis tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mata avoids it.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Travis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Travis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
