Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oooh Yeah! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Buddy Lyles! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yeah works over Lyles's head and body with a nice combination. Lyles fails with the takedown. Yeah misses with a looping right. Yeah scores with a shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lyles has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Yeah throws a body punch but Lyles moves out of range. Lyles changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Lyles throws a shot from downtown. Yeah moves away and avoids it. Yeah appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Yeah fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yeah moves out of range of the strikes. Lyles darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yeah moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyles being controlled here momentarily. Lyles postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Yeah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lyles working some strikes from top position. Yeah is adopting a defensive guard. Yeah is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Yeah might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Yeah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lyles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lyles trying to control but Yeah is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lyles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yeah swivels and escapes. Yeah was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Yeah misses with a left hand and Lyles makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Yeah misses with an uppercut. Lyles saw that one coming. Lyles listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yeah throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lyles waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Yeah. Yeah was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Yeah misses with a hook
and Lyles counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Yeah staying out of range there. Yeah misses with a straight left. Lyles is looking for the big counter here. Lyles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lyles lands in his opponent's guard. Lyles lands a couple of decent looking shots. Yeah is breathing heavily. Lyles stands up over Yeah, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Yeah seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Yeah is working an open guard so Lyles takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Lyles throws a combination. Yeah tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Lyles lands with a straight right. Yeah didn't see that one coming. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lyles throws a right and a left that Yeah avoids nicely. Lyles with a nice cross. Lyles has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Lyles lands with a shot to the body. Lyles moves out of range of the strikes. Oooh Yeah is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Yeah fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Yeah tries to clinch but fails miserably and Lyles counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Yeah with a body punch. A glancing blow. Yeah looks to land a right hand but Lyles moved out of range. Yeah is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lyles's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Yeah misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lyles.

Lyles shoots in and drives through. Yeah sprawls well. Lyles listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Yeah takes a swing at Lyles's ribcage but misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A big right from Lyles misses. Yeah swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Yeah rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lyles moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lyles is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Yeah scores with a decent looking hook.

It looks like Oooh Yeah has been cut. Buddy Lyles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A looping hook to the body misses from Yeah. Lyles does a little dance to reset his feet. Lyles darts in and out, connecting with a jab. The crowd cheers as Lyles lands an impressive looking overhand right. Yeah doesn't seem phased though. Lyles stalks Yeah and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Yeah's face. Yeah staggers backwards, shaken. Yeah waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lyles. Lyles looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. A combination from Yeah does no damage. Lyles tries a head kick but it misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A left and a right from Lyles both land. Nice combination. Lyles has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. This has been an exciting period of action! Yeah takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lyles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lyles lands in his opponent's guard. Yeah trying to control the position.

Buddy Lyles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Oooh Yeah's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lyles is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Lyles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yeah works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lyles wants to control from the top but Yeah keeps moving. Lyles working some strikes from top position. Lyles is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Lyles makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Lyles must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lyles is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lyles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Buddy Lyles dominated that fourth round. The cut man is working on Oooh Yeah's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Lyles clobbers Yeah with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Yeah bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lyles's head. Yeah takes a body punch but keeps moving. Yeah is looking to clinch. Yeah ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lyles moves away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Yeah misses its intended target. Yeah misses with the combination.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lyles looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Lyles missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Lyles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yeah with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lyles working the head and body with strikes. Yeah avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lyles.

And that's the end of the fight! Buddy Lyles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Lyles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Buddy Lyles made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. In defeat, Oooh Yeah stepped up to the mic, saying 'Ooooh, noooooo!!!!'.
