Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amun Ra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glen Starner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amun Ra!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Glen Starner!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ra lands a nice hook to Starner's body. Starner takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Starner's coach down at Elite Fighting Temple was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Starner's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Starner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Starner lands in his opponent's guard.
Starner landing with the ground and pound.
Starner stopping the sweep attempt from Ra.
Starner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Starner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Starner postures up in Ra's guard and throws a big left but Ra blocks it.
Ra is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ra preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Starner won't allow Ra to sweep him here.
Starner throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Starner stopping the sweep attempt from Ra.
Starner pushing down on Ra's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Starner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Starner trying to advance position but Ra counters by regaining guard.
Starner looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Starner throws a big right hand that misses.
Ra seems keen to control Starner's posture.
Ra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ra working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Starner.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ra forces Starner back against the cage and clinches.
Starner can't break the clinch.
Starner throws a punch but it's blocked by Ra.

Ra breaks from the clinch.
Ra catches Starner with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Ra stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Ra scores with a takedown into Starner's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ra working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Starner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ra is sitting in close to Starner's body. Starner has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ra is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ra is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Starner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Glen Starner!
Glen Starner is the new lightweight champion!
A relieved looking Glen Starner thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
