Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Titus Arellius! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
32 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kosti Lom! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arellius takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Arellius blocks a low kick nicely. Arellius seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Lom misses with an uppercut. Arellius saw that one coming. Lom has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Arellius is landing a low percentage of strikes. Arellius steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lom. Arellius shoots in but Lom avoids the takedown attempt easily. Lom appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Lom misses with a low kick.
Arellius ducks under a wild hook from Lom. Arellius takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Arellius throws a hook to the side of Lom's head but Lom sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arellius swings away with a leg kick that misses. Arellius checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Arellius connects with a solid leg kick. Lom bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Arellius misses with a low kick as Lom jumps back.

Arellius drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lom sprawls and moves away. Lom pivots, looking for a leg kick but Arellius is out of range and Lom settles back down. Lom misses with a low kick.

Kosti Lom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Arellius misses with a looping left. Lom chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Arellius takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Lom takes a shot right to the bread basket. Lom misses with an uppercut. Arellius drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lom sprawls and moves away. An inside leg kick lands from Arellius.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lom misses with a leg kick so Arellius counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lom wants to stand and escape but Arellius is having none of it. Arellius is looking to advance position but Lom has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Lom content just to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arellius is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lom takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lom tries to control but Arellius wriggling away. Arellius is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Arellius regains half guard. Lom is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Arellius lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Arellius missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Arellius won't allow Lom to get back to his feet. Arellius trying to control the position from guard on top but Lom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lom wants to stand and escape but Arellius is having none of it. Lom throws a sloppy head kick and Arellius counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Arellius working Lom over with strikes. Lom moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lom keeping moving, preventing Arellius from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arellius throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lom is pulling down on Arellius's head. It's preventing any offense from Arellius, at least for the moment. Lom is continuing to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lom wants to sweep here but Arellius controlling him for the moment. Arellius slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Arellius working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lom holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Arellius drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. No joy there for Lom, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A left lands for Arellius. Lom walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Arellius checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Lom misses the shot to the body. A leg kick checked by Lom. A good leg kick by Lom. Lom missing with a left hand there. Arellius was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Lom misses with an uppercut. Arellius connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Arellius avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Lom slips under a jab from Arellius. A swing and a miss from Lom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arellius throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lom sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lom fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Arellius has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Arellius misses the shot to the body. Lom throws a shot from downtown. Arellius moves away and avoids it. Arellius listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A swing and a miss from Arellius. Lom throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lom is trying to improve his position. Arellius working away. The ground and pound from Arellius seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Arellius creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Arellius lands a nice forearm strike. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Arellius is looking to take a break and control but Lom is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lom wants to control but Arellius postures up. Great action here. Lom throws a big shot that misses. Lom fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. A big left from Arellius misses. Arellius checks the leg kick nicely there.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lom missing with a left hand there. Arellius was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Arellius blocks a head kick by Lom.

Lom lands with a kick to the temple. Arellius shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Arellius waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lom. Arellius lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That sent Arellius stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Arellius tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lom swivels and escapes. Lom tries to move into range but Arellius moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Lom fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Arellius manages to avoid it. Arellius swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lom. Lom jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lom throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
