Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jozef Jankowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo DeRosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jozef Jankowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leonardo DeRosa!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeRosa moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
DeRosa misses with a leg kick

and Jankowski counters with a takedown into side control.
DeRosa is not content to let Jankowski control the position.
Jankowski scores with a couple of short elbows.
Jankowski trying to control the position but DeRosa is working away.
DeRosa is looking to reverse the position.

Jankowski tries to move to mount but DeRosa blocks the move with his legs.

DeRosa is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jankowski has just dragged him back down to the mat.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
DeRosa is not content to let Jankowski control the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now DeRosa is on top in guard.

Jankowski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in DeRosa's guard.

DeRosa controls Jankowski momentarily but Jankowski frees himself.

Jankowski is looking to work some ground and pound but DeRosa has wrist control.
DeRosa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jankowski trying to control but DeRosa is working from the bottom.
DeRosa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jankowski's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jankowski is nestled in close to DeRosa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


DeRosa throws a head kick that misses.
Jankowski takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
DeRosa lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Jankowski takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Jankowski has his takedown stuffed
and DeRosa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jankowski shoots in but no luck this time.

DeRosa clinches with his opponent.
I was talking to Jankowski's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeRosa wants to stall.
Jankowski goes for a takedown attempt but DeRosa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jozef Jankowski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jankowski shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. DeRosa is trying to defend but Jankowski finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jankowski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so DeRosa is just riding it out for now. Jankowski eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
DeRosa blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jankowski.
Jankowski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed DeRosa's head.
DeRosa preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
DeRosa is trying to maintain the position but Jankowski is very close to passing his half guard.
DeRosa is doing well to control the position and prevent Jankowski from advancing to side control.
Jankowski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jankowski is taking a breather. DeRosa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jankowski is working for a kimura but DeRosa is defending it quite comfortably.

Jankowski moves into full mount! DeRosa won't be happy about that!
Jankowski unloads with some shots from mount but DeRosa bucks and avoids them well.
DeRosa takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

DeRosa is rocked!
Poor strikes thrown by Jankowski there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
DeRosa is still in real trouble! Can Jankowski finish him?

DeRosa seems to have recovered his senses.
DeRosa wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Jankowski lands a big shot there that rocks DeRosa but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Jankowski prevents DeRosa from getting the reversal.
Jankowski is landing with some decent strikes but DeRosa is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Jankowski tries to control but DeRosa wriggling away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Leonardo DeRosa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

BOOM! Jankowski connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Jozef Jankowski is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jankowski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as DeRosa is looking to escape.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jankowski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
