PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Bundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hitmon Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bundy comes to the cage accompanied by Bad to The Bone. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Al Bundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hitmon Lee!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands a head shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Bundy throws a big shot that misses.
Lee throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bundy connects with a body shot.
Lee is looking to land body kicks.
Lee scores with a jab to the body.
Lee feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bundy's calf.
Bundy avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hitmon Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

With the fighters up against the cage, Lee throws an elbow but misses.

It looks like Al Bundy has been cut.
Lee lands with a right to the head.
Lee's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Bundy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Lee prevents a takedown attempt there.
Lee lands with a light punch inside.
Bundy tries to score a body lock takedown but Lee shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Bundy has picked Lee up - he's going for a ride! Bundy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bundy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bundy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bundy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bundy showed some decent athleticism there.
Bundy is just content to waste time from the top position. Lee takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Bundy definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Lee parries the strikes from Bundy easily there. Bundy is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lee to escape.

Bundy stands up over Lee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That was a close round but I would say that Al Bundy will probably get the nod.

Bundy is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bundy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lee throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bundy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hitmon Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
