The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams stuffs the takedown attempt from Maier. Maier gets slowly back to his feet.
That kick from Williams tenderised Maier's leg. Maier is trying to keep his angry face on.
Maier looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Maier has a takedown stuffed.
Maier fails with the takedown
and Williams counters with a low kick, right behind Maier 's knee.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sepp Maier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maier tries to clinch but Williams is having none of it.

Maier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Maier persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing.
Williams was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

and Williams counters with a good low kick that Maier was not able to check.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Maier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Maier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.

Williams lands a nice shot that snaps Maier's head back.
Williams defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Maier.
Maier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Williams scores with a nice head shot.
Williams thuds a left hand into Maier's body.
Maier is breathing heavily.
Williams lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Maier at a distance.
Williams cracks Maier with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Maier looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Williams finish him?
Maier is rocked!
It looks like Sepp Maier has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crack! Williams connects with the perfect overhand right and Maier falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Williams!

Hector Williams decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
