Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nash Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nash Banks! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Banks. Banks clinches. Burns scores with a shoulder strike. Burns lands a body punch. Burns misses with a hook to the ribs.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Burns. Banks tries for a takedown. No joy.
Burns prevents Banks from breaking the clinch. Banks has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Burns avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Patrick Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nash Banks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burns tries to throw a body punch but Banks avoids it by throwing Burns back against the cage. Burns swings wildly with an uppercut but Banks uses good head movement to avoid it. Burns avoids the elbow strike from Banks, against the cage.

Burns lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Banks wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Banks is trying to break the clinch but Burns has him pressed against the cage. Burns looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banks is fending him off so far but Burns persists. Nope, Banks circles away and we're back to standing. Banks shoots in for a double leg but Burns sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Banks uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burns.

and Banks counters with a one-two to the body. Banks throws a lazy head kick and Burns counters with a stiff right hand. Banks has Burns up against the cage in a clinch.
Burns tries to throw a body punch but Banks avoids it by throwing Burns back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Burns winds up and cracks Banks with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Banks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burns is working away from the top position though. Burns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Banks is trying to get back to full guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Burns lands a nice short elbow. Banks has hold of Burns's hands but Burns slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Burns is keen to just control but Banks is a slippery customer. Burns takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Burns misses with a head shot. Banks uses the momentum to regain guard. Burns is in close to Banks's body, working some short punches and elbows. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Banks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Burns scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Burns throwing strikes but missing. Burns wants to pass the guard but Banks is keeping the position. Burns passes Banks's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Burns lands strikes from half guard. Burns trying to control the action but Banks is working from the bottom. Burns winds up and cracks Banks with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Burns sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Banks defending well though. Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burns is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Banks is just riding it out for now. Burns eventually gives up the hold. Burns not landing any meaningful shots this time. Burns is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Banks defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burns throws a big shot that misses. Burns fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Banks to the ground. Burns is now in Banks's guard. Burns throwing strikes from guard but Banks blocks nicely. Banks preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Burns wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving. Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but Banks is retaining full guard. Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Banks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Banks has his foot on Burns's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burns works his way back into a safe position though. Burns is really dominating this fight. Banks is wriggling around but Burns manages to pass to half guard.

Banks tries to get to full guard but Burns has control of the leg. Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banks keeps working. Burns working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Burns lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Nice straight punches there by Burns. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Burns. Banks dives in for a single leg takedown but Burns sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Banks pushes Burns away with a front kick. Burns throws an overhand right that lands on Banks's shoulder, as Banks tries to avoid the shot. Banks throws a big counter head kick but Burns avoids it with no problem. Horrible takedown attempt by Banks or perhaps it was just good defense by Burns, which made it look bad. Banks moves into range and clinches up with Burns. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Banks is defending well against a takedown attempt. Burns is trying to drag Banks to the mat but Banks just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Burns has Banks pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Burns pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Banks tumbling to the mat - Burns dives into Banks's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks controls Burns momentarily but Burns frees himself. Banks wants to sweep but no luck. Burns lands a couple of digs. Burns controlling from the top position. Burns passes Banks's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Burns wants to take a breather but Banks is having none of it. Banks is looking for a sweep. Burns is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Burns controlling the pace. Banks is staying active underneath Burns, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Banks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Banks wants to control but Burns is keeping busy.
Banks is not content to let Burns control the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Burns controlling the action here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Banks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burns defends it nicely. Patrick Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nash Banks.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Banks scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Banks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Burns swivels and escapes. Burns is looking to counter punch. Nash Banks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Banks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Banks avoids the body shot from Burns.

And that's the end of the fight! Patrick Burns showed his dominance in that final round. Well Burns has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
