Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phan Tran Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus McTearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le comes to the cage accompanied by Dukes of Hazard Theme Song - Waylon Jennings. Rufus McTearson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phan Tran Le!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Rufus McTearson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
McTearson scores with a sloppy right hand. Le should have avoided that one.
McTearson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
McTearson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Le.
McTearson moves into range and connects with a jab.


Le is rocked!
McTearson throws a quick inside leg kick.
McTearson misses with a head kick.
McTearson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Le checks it well.
McTearson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
McTearson moves out of range of the strikes.
Le throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McTearson's head.


It looks like Rufus McTearson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Le takes a swing at McTearson's ribcage but misses.
McTearson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Le has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
We've been told by Le's head coaches at LOD: Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Le fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McTearson misses with a hook.
Le scores with a shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Le.
McTearson throws a low kick, looking for Le's leg but Le calmly moves out of range.
Le throws a quick inside leg kick.

McTearson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Le.
McTearson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McTearson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
McTearson moves into range and connects with a jab.
Le moves into range and connects with a jab.
McTearson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Le throws a jab when McTearson was well out of range.
The fighters circling - Le throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Le tries a head kick but it misses.
Le misses with a left hand
and McTearson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McTearson throws a combination that misses
and Le counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Le wants to clinch but McTearson slips to the side
and McTearson counters with a one-two to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Le misses with a straight right.
Le throws a low kick but McTearson avoids it.
Le moves out of range of the strikes.
McTearson lands a right hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McTearson drops Le with a big left hand and mounts him. Le is in big trouble!
Oh Le is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Phan Tran Le has been cut.
McTearson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Le wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by McTearson.
Le seems to have got his legs back now.
McTearson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
McTearson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
McTearson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Le because McTearson loaded up on that one.
McTearson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Le's face.
Le avoids a series of strikes thrown by McTearson.
McTearson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McTearson controlling the position easily from mount.
Le tries to lock up and control but McTearson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McTearson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Le holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as McTearson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
McTearson content just to control the position here.
Poor strikes thrown by McTearson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
McTearson prevents Le from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McTearson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
McTearson throwing strikes here but Le is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Le is working to get back to half guard.
McTearson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Le is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rufus McTearson dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McTearson tries to land a leg kick but Le saw it coming and moves away.
Le lands a body shot.
McTearson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Les jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
McTearson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Le swings for the body but McTearson moves out of range.
A low kick from Le is predictable there
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Le tries a head kick but it misses.
Le throws a lazy body kick
and McTearson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Le is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
McTearson lands a leg kick that knocks Le off balance momentarily.
Le misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McTearson.
A nice inside leg kick there by McTearson. That's going to slow Le down.
McTearson throws a quick inside leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McTearson moves out of range of the body kick.
McTearson works the jab nicely.
McTearson scores with a nice strike.
McTearson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Le avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
McTearson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Le's head.
Le misses with a left hand
and McTearson counters with a nice leg kick.
Le is looking to clinch.
McTearson throws out a counter right but Le avoids it with no problem.
Le pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
McTearson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Le swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Le walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Both fighters circling a little - McTearson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Le misses with a looping left.
McTearson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McTearson throws a big shot that misses.

Le swings away with a leg kick that misses.
McTearson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

McTearson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Le takes a body punch but keeps moving.
McTearson delivers a nice body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Le cracks McTearson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
McTearson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Le walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. McTearson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
McTearson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Le on the side of the head.
McTearson cracks Le with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Le falls to his knees and McTearson doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rufus McTearson!
Rufus McTearson decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Phan Tran Le spoke after the fight, saying 'You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!'.
