Anderson has chosen Monster by Skillet as his entrance music. John Anderson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rufus Montoya's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rufus Montoya! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Anderson! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson closes the distance and clinches up with Montoya, looking for a takedown. Anderson pushes Montoya against the cage but Montoya circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Montoya avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Montoya could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Anderson dives in for a single leg takedown but Montoya sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Anderson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Montoya quickly recovers to half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Montoya is holding on to half guard well. Montoya kicks Anderson off and gets back to his feet. Anderson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Anderson shoots in for a double leg but Montoya sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Montoya drops down looking for a counter takedown but Anderson sprawls and moves away. Rufus Montoya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Anderson. Anderson goes for a double leg but Montoya avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Montoya continues to drive forward. Montoya feinted with a counter takedown. Anderson misses with a wild body shot. As Anderson tries to get set, Montoya tries to push him back and clinch up but Anderson manages to avoid the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Montoya paws at him with a jab and circles away. Montoya attempts a counter takedown but Anderson avoids it well and moves away. Anderson looking to score a takedown here. Montoya is defending well but Anderson drives through and ends up in Montoya's guard. Montoya has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Anderson wants to get up but he can't break Montoya's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Anderson looks winded! Montoya controlling the position. Montoya is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Montoya is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Anderson wants to get back to full guard but Montoya has passed into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montoya is trying to get an arm triangle but Anderson is defending well. Montoya throws a strike aimed at the side of Anderson's head but Anderson avoids it well. Montoya scoring with punches and elbows. Montoya throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Anderson works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Montoya missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montoya slips a nice elbow through Anderson's hands, connecting with Anderson's forehead. Anderson punching from the bottom.
Montoya seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Montoya prevents Anderson from improving his position. Anderson is trying to control Montoya's posture. Montoya takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Anderson! Montoya is rotating here... this could be the end... Anderson is out! Montoya has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
