Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Kuoppala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Banner comes to the cage accompanied by Pump Up The Jam. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruce Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Kuoppala!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Banner. Beautiful body shot.

Kuoppala has closed the distance and engaged Banner in a clinch.

Banner decides to pull guard.
Kuoppala postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Banner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kuoppala is aware though and is defending well.

Banner is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Banner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuoppala is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Banner is working an open guard so Kuoppala takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kuoppala throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banner's waist but Banner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kuoppala off to one side.

Kuoppala forces Banner back against the cage and clinches.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Banner for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Banner gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kuoppala.
Banner struggles to land a body shot inside as Kuoppala controls his hands.
Banner tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kuoppala blocks a body shot from Banner.
Kuoppala blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Banner digs a right hand underneath Kuoppala's ribcage. Kuoppala let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Kuoppala manages to pull guard.
Banner trying to control but Kuoppala is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Banner passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Banner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kuoppala throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
We've been hearing good reports from Banner's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Banner lands a big shot there that rocks Kuoppala but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Banner goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kuoppala is on top in guard.
Kuoppala wants to pass the guard but Banner is keeping the position.

Banner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kuoppala trying to control but Banner is working from the bottom.

Banner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kuoppala can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Banner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuoppala's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kuoppala has an active guard here but Banner has managed to pass into half guard.
Banner passes the guard and advances to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Banner dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kuoppala tries to score a power double leg takedown but Banner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kuoppala somewhat.
Kuoppala shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Banner but Banner pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Banner keeps the fight on the outside.
Banner attempts a counter takedown but Kuoppala avoids it well and moves away.
Banner throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kuoppala stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kuoppala shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kuoppala showed some decent athleticism there.

Banner is looking for a sweep. Kuoppala is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kuoppala is stalling here. Banner is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kuoppala seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Banner has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Banner is looking for a kimura but Kuoppala is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Banner to get the leverage.
Kuoppala is looking to control Banner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kuoppala avoid being mounted?

Banner is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kuoppala is controlling Banner's position as best he can from this difficult position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kuoppala takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kuoppala tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kuoppala closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Banner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kuoppala can do to turn this around?

A close second round but Alexander Kuoppala will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Banner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Banner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banner wants it to stay on the feet.

and Kuoppala counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kuoppala wants to clinch up but Banner keeps it at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Banner showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Banner has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
