Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anstey's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Heat--J.U.I.C.E.. Xavier has chosen Jane's Addiction- Mountain Song as his entrance music. 32 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bittor Xavier! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Xavier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Xavier fails with the takedown and Anstey counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Xavier is trying to improve his position. Xavier keeps trying to improve his position. Anstey in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You can see the frustration on Xavier's face as Anstey controls the position. Xavier is trying to get back to half guard. Xavier struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anstey scores with punches from side control. Xavier tries to bench press Anstey off him but Anstey keeps the position. Anstey lands with a straight right. Xavier didn't see that one coming. Xavier's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Anstey connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Xavier scrambles back to his feet. Xavier takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Anstey throws a push kick but Xavier slaps the foot to one side. Xavier fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anstey avoids it really well and circles away. Anstey lands a jab to the nose. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Xavier misses with a takedown attempt - Anstey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Xavier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Anstey. Anstey obviously looking to wear him down.

Xavier closes the distance and clinches up with Anstey, looking for a takedown. Xavier pushes Anstey against the cage but Anstey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Corwin Anstey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bittor Xavier. Anstey throws a leg kick which misses Xavier's front leg but catches the back leg as Xavier tries to avoid it. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Anstey.
Anstey connects with a crisp jab. A combination from Anstey does no damage. Anstey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Anstey throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Anstey moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Anstey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Anstey wants it to stay on the feet. Corwin Anstey is winning the standup battle so far. Xavier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Anstey as he jumps to the side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Xavier shoots in for a takedown but Anstey shows good takedown defense. Anstey changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Anstey explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Anstey is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Xavier's half guard. Anstey wants to free his trapped foot but Xavier is holding on for dear life with his legs. Anstey drops an elbow to the side of Xavier's head. Anstey slips a nice elbow through Xavier's hands, connecting with Xavier's forehead. Xavier actively working from the bottom here. Xavier moves into full guard.
Anstey wants to control from the top but Xavier keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anstey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Anstey landing with the ground and pound. Xavier being controlled here, momentarily. Xavier is looking for a triangle here but Anstey uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Anstey wants to control but Xavier is keeping him busy. Anstey in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. A lull in the action here. Anstey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Xavier can do to turn this around? You can see the frustration on Xavier's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Xavier is not in a great position here, taking some shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Corwin Anstey dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Xavier gets caught flat footed, as Anstey shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Anstey looking to sit in guard and control but Xavier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Xavier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Anstey works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Xavier passes easily into side control. Nice work. Xavier tries for a kimura but Anstey is defending well. Xavier in the domination position with Anstey hanging on. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anstey tries to improve position but can't. Anstey is trying to control Xavier's posture but Xavier avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Xavier swings around for an armbar but Anstey sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Xavier's guard. Xavier throws his legs up looking for a submission but Anstey uses it to pass to side control.
Xavier is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Anstey wants to control but Xavier is keeping him busy. Anstey in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Corwin Anstey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Xavier manages to work his way to half guard, despite Anstey's best efforts. Corwin Anstey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well, if Anstey is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Anstey is pressing down on Xavier's thigh, looking to free his foot. Xavier is holding on for now. Bittor Xavier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Xavier is looking for a sweep. Anstey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Xavier has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Anstey escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Anstey! Xavier tries to bench press Anstey off him but Anstey keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anstey is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Xavier's shoulder. That is not cool. Xavier is looking for a sweep. Anstey controls the position from side control. Xavier tries to improve position but can't. Anstey is staying tight to Xavier's torso, preventing him from escaping. Xavier tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Anstey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Xavier takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Xavier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Anstey as he jumps to the side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Xavier shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Anstey counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Xavier is pressing down on Anstey's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Anstey is pushing down on Xavier's leg trying to pass to half guard. Xavier is fighting to maintain full guard but Anstey has managed to sneak the leg through. Anstey not doing much here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Anstey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Xavier with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Corwin Anstey showed his dominance in that final round. Well Anstey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
