Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenneth Velasco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Azogo Theiles! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Theiles doesn't succeed with the takedown and Velasco counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Theiles thinking. Nice sprawl there from Velasco as Theiles shoots in. Velasco attempts a counter takedown but Theiles avoids it well and moves away. Theiles looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Velasco is fending him off so far but Theiles persists. Nope, Velasco circles away and we're back to standing. It looked like Velasco was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kenneth Velasco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Azogo Theiles. Theiles shoots in but Velasco avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've been told by Velasco's head coaches at Cozad MMA Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Theiles misses with a takedown and Velasco counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Theiles shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velasco manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Velasco is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Velasco trying to control but Theiles is working from the bottom. Velasco trying to control the position from guard on top but Theiles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Velasco wants to pass the guard but Theiles is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Velasco has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Theiles to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Velasco is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Theiles pulls down on the head and he's put Velasco to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Azogo Theiles! Azogo Theiles seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
