PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orkan Dogu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Fayth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fayth has chosen Awry Decade - Aisle of Denial as his entrance music. Ray Fayth is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Orkan Dogu!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Fayth!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fayth throws a leg kick
and Dogu counters with a stiff right hand.
Dogu moves out of range as Fayth strikes.
A little feinted left hand from Dogu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dogu thuds a left hand into Fayth's body.
Fayth ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Fayth throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Fayth dives in and grabs Dogu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dogu pushes down on Fayth's head and hops out.
Fayth shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dogu sprawls well. Dogu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fayth gets slowly back to his feet.
Fayth uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dogu.
Fayth fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dogu checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fayth connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nice shot lands for Fayth.
Fayth darts in looking for a takedown but Dogu gets double underhooks and turns Fayth into the cage.
Orkan Dogu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Fayth.
Dogu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fayth circles away.
Fayth ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Both fighters circling a little - Fayth finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Fayth works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fayth fails to land the takedown.
Fayth connects with a body shot that sends Dogu's belly button to the back.
Fayth throws a lazy body kick
and Dogu counters with a nice body shot.
Fayth dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dogu moves forwards but Fayth connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Fayth tries a head kick but it misses.
Dogu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fayth fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dogu is out of range.
Fayth misses with a body punch
and Dogu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Fayth gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fayth is trying to control. Dogu wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dogu wants to improve his position but Fayth is controlling well.
Dogu striking from the bottom.
Dogu wants to improve his position but Fayth is controlling well.
Fayth looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dogu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fayth working over Dogu with some ground and pound. Dogu looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fayth wants to control but Dogu is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dogu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fayth wants to take a breather but Dogu is having none of it.
Dogu wants to improve his position but Fayth is controlling well.
Dogu is not content to let Fayth control the position.
Fayth takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dogu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fayth is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dogu taking some punishment here, with Fayth in his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fayth prevents Dogu from improving his position.
Fayth content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Fayth is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dogu is just riding it out for now. Fayth eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fayth scoring with strikes to the body and head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Fayth dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Fayth chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A shot to the liver by Dogu. Beautiful body shot.
Dogu moves out of range of the strikes.
Dogu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fayth tries a low kick but Dogu avoids it.
Fayth throws a head kick but Dogu moves out of range.
Fayth has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dogu has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Fayth.
Nice sprawl there from Dogu as Fayth shoots in.
Fayth shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dogu defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Fayth.
Dogu throws a body shot but no joy.
Dogu checks a leg kick nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fayth with a jab.
Fayth lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Fayth scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Fayth steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dogu.

Fayth gets the takedown into side control.
Fayth has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Dogu regains half guard.
Dogu gets full guard.
Fayth has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fayth won't allow Dogu to sweep him here.
Fayth trying to control the position from guard on top but Dogu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fayth controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fayth trying to control but Dogu is working from the bottom.
Dogu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dogu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Dogu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Fayth working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dogu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dogu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fayth keeping moving, preventing Dogu from controlling successfully.

Fayth not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dogu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fayth swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dogu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fayth looking for a sweep. Not yet Fayth, not yet.
Fayth is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dogu trying to control the position from guard on top but Fayth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fayth throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Dogu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Dogu just misses with a punch to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dogu. Fayth does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ray Fayth seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fayth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fayth has an Americana. Dogu didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Fayth is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Fayth hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ray Fayth!
