Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Potts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fritz kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Metallica - Enter Sandman . Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Fritz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Potts!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Potts darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Potts is looking for a kimura here.
Potts trying to pass the guard but Fritz defending well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Potts wants to work for an arm triangle but Fritz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Potts not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Fritz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Potts pulls his head out easily.

Fritz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Potts is trying to work for a kimura but Fritz is defending well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Potts misses with a jab, cross combination.

Potts moves into the clinch successfully.

Potts gets control of Fritz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Potts will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Fritz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Potts's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fritz is looking to stand up but Potts won't let him.

Fritz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Potts working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fritz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fritz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Potts wants to sweep but no luck.
Fritz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Fritz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Potts is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Potts has escaped and now he's on top!
Fritz is breathing heavily.

Potts trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Fritz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fritz being controlled here, momentarily.

Potts drops back looking for a leg! Fritz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fritz manages to kick Potts off! Potts jumps back into Fritz's guard.
Potts wants to control from the top but Fritz keeps moving.
Potts tries to free his leg and advance position but Fritz is retaining full guard.
Potts is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fritz with a poor takedown

and Potts counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Potts working over Fritz with some ground and pound. Fritz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Potts in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Fritz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Potts!
