Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Caliph James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Tripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tripp comes into a darkened arena with his song building. House of the Rising Sun by The Animals kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Caliph James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Tripp!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James lands a jab to Tripp's midsection.
James tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tripp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tripp! But no joy.
James lands a nice shot to the body.
Tripp looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
James fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tripp.
Good exchange - Tripp coming out on top.
James misses with a body kick.
Tripp ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Tripp avoids a kick to the body.
Tripp tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
James throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Tripp counters with a nice uppercut.
Tripp slips a jab from James.
Tripp lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
James misses with a shot to the body
and James takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tripp on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Tripp walks into a stiff left hand from James.
James lands a nice looking body shot.
James comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice jab there from James.
James throws a head kick that misses
and Tripp makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
James lands with a straight right. Tripp didn't see that one coming.
A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target.
Tripp throws a counter combo.
James tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tripp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tripp now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Tripp misses with a series of wild punches.
James takes a swing at Tripp's ribcage but misses.
James gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tripp.
It looks like Caliph James has been cut.
James throws a shot from downtown. Tripp moves away and avoids it.
It seemed like Tripp was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
James throws a body punch but Tripp moves out of range.
James misses with a left hand
enabling Tripp to counter with a crisp jab.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tripp looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Tripp bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Tripp tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
James misses with a head kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tripp shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tripp cracks James with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tripp walks into a jab.
Tripp lands with a nice combination. James backs away looking to recover.
James is rocked!
Tripp circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops James to the canvas! James doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Tripp keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jackson Tripp!
