Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
45 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asher Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bryan Bishop! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee looks to throw the jab but Bishop is out of range. Lee loads up on a big right hand but Bishop slips the punch. Bishop tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Bishop looks for a takedown but Lee sprawls well. Jab, jab by Lee - just one landing. Lee cracks Bishop with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Bishop fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lee to the ground. Bishop is now in Lee's guard. Lee pulls Bishop in close to prevent any damage. Bishop loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bishop puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Lee has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Bishop missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bishop is figuring out what he wants to do next. Bishop tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Bishop thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head. Bishop perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Bishop's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Lee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bishop working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Lee's thigh. Lee counters though and makes it back to full guard. Lee is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bishop trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A big right from Lee misses. Bishop drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lee defends it well. Lee throws a shot from downtown. Bishop moves away and avoids it. Lee misses with a body shot.
Lee misses with an uppercut
and Bishop counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bishop slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bishop trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Lee manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is looking to stand up but Bishop won't let him. Lee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Lee wants to control from the top but Bishop keeps moving. Lee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bishop is proving hard to escape from. Bishop has his hands on Lee's head, controlling the position. Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bishop's guard. Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Lee connects with the punch. Lee throws an overhand right that lands on Bishop's shoulder, as Bishop tries to avoid the shot. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bishop moves out of range as Lee strikes. Lee listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Lee misses with a body shot.
Bishop walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Asher Lee dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Lee's corner calls for a 1-2. Lee obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Bishop moves out of range as Lee strikes. Lee is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Lee throws a shot from downtown. Bishop moves away and avoids it. Bishop feints the counter takedown. Lee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Lee misses the jab. Bishop closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Bishop pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lee looks to land a right hand but Bishop moved out of range. Bishop with the counter takedown but Lee avoids it easily. Bishop keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bishop blocks a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee swings and misses with a shot to the body and Bishop counters with a shoot takedown. Lee fights it but they end up in guard. Lee wants to improve his position but instead Bishop has moved into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bishop lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Lee wants to improve his position but Bishop is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bishop is working away from the top position though. Lee tries to get to full guard but Bishop has control of the leg. Bishop seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lee does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Lee trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bishop sitting and controlling from the half guard. Bishop moves into full mount! Lee won't be happy about that! Bishop looking to finish with strikes here!
Lee is trying desperately to improve position. Bishop lands a heavy elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bishop with shots to the head and body - Lee looks very uncomfortable down there. Lee takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Bishop thowing shots but they're missing. Bishop trying to control but he's not successful this time. Bishop controlling from mount. Lee is desperately trying to improve his position but Bishop has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Lee that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Lee is rocked! Bishop raining down shots from the mount! Oh Lee is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Bishop prevents Lee from getting the reversal. Bishop takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bishop softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Lee is out cold! Bishop jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
