Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that John West has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John West seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Dias! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West fails with the takedown. West chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dias can pounce on him.
Dias lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but West circles away quickly and effectively. William Dias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. West avoids a punch combination nicely.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Dias throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Dias swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by West. West shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dias manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. West lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. West postures up in Dias's guard and throws a big left but Dias blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dias goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Dias looks winded! Dias tries to close the distance and clinch up but West swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dias feints a jab promting West to slip. Dias then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. West slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! West moves out of range of the body kick from Dias.
West seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Dias fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John West will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Horrible takedown attempt by West or perhaps it was just good defense by Dias, which made it look bad. Dias fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt West. West on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. West closes the distance and clinches. West jumps guard but Dias stands there with West around his waist. West gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

West shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. West showed some decent athleticism there. West is looking for a kimura but Dias is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for West to get the leverage. West thows a huge punch but Dias dodges it nicely.
West could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. West is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dias is just riding it out for now. West eventually gives up the hold.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Dias throws a sloppy head kick and West moves out of range easily. Dias tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Dias swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dias throws a right hand that West ducks under and follows up with a left that West also avoids with ease. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dias lands a high kick!

William Dias seems to be getting the better of the standup. West bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dias taking punishment in the form of punches.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. West closes the distance and pushes Dias back into the cage. West jumps guard but Dias stands there with West around his waist. West gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! John West showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for West, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
