Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bart Gamble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Grozdev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fedor Grozdev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bart Gamble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Grozdev!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gamble shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grozdev sprawls well. Grozdev wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gamble gets slowly back to his feet.
Gamble shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Grozdev as he jumps to the side.

Grozdev has managed to clinch.

Gamble manages to pull guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Grozdev working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grozdev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grozdev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
It looks like Grozdev might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Gamble might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Grozdev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grozdev throws an elbow that misses. Gamble uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Grozdev's guard. Nice move by Gamble!


Grozdev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gamble doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gamble manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grozdev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gamble tries to stand but Grozdev is controlling from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grozdev can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grozdev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Gamble could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Grozdev seems keen to control Gamble's posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Grozdev looks for a takedown but Gamble sprawls well.

Grozdev shoots in but no luck this time.
Grozdev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gamble swivels and escapes.
Bart Gamble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Grozdev.
Grozdev is looking to clinch but Gamble is avoiding it.
Gamble drops down looking for a counter takedown but Grozdev sprawls and moves away.
Gamble shoots in for a takedown but Grozdev shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Grozdev is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Gamble moves into the clinch successfully.

Gamble's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Grozdev shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gamble manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Grozdev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bart Gamble will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Grozdev shoots in but no luck this time.
Grozdev throws a combination. Gamble tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Grozdev wants to clinch up but Gamble keeps it at a distance.
Grozdev fails to land the takedown.
Grozdev shoots in for a takedown but Gamble shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bart Gamble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Grozdev.
Gamble tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Grozdev swivels and escapes.
And Grozdev tries to counter it with a takedown but Gamble pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Gamble darts in looking for a takedown but Grozdev gets double underhooks and turns Gamble into the cage.

Grozdev changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gamble looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gamble prevents Grozdev from moving into mount.
Gamble takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Grozdev throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Gamble works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Grozdev is just content to waste time from the top position. Gamble takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Grozdev is looking to work some ground and pound but Gamble has wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Grozdev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gamble to the mat! Gamble manages to get full guard.

Grozdev working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Grozdev is working Gamble over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Grozdev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Grozdev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Grozdev throws a strike but Gamble rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Grozdev has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gamble has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Grozdev has Gamble pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gamble manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Gamble changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Grozdev fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Grozdev moves into range and clinches up with Gamble.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Grozdev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Gamble wants to stand but Grozdev has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gamble trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Grozdev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gamble manages to get himself to full guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Grozdev drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gamble looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gamble looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gamble!

Grozdev is looking to regain half guard here but Gamble keeps moving and retains side control.
Grozdev isn't going anywhere.
Grozdev wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Grozdev is looking for a sweep.
Grozdev manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gamble's best efforts.

Grozdev has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gamble is on him like a limpet, forcing Grozdev back against the cage.
Grozdev stops a takedown attempt from Gamble.

Grozdev wants to sweep here but Gamble controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Grozdev wants to get back to his feet but Gamble is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grozdev is on top in guard.

Grozdev throws a big right hand that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Grozdev trying to control the position from guard on top but Gamble is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Grozdev has gone for a leg lock! Gamble slips out almost immediately though and dives into Grozdev's guard.

Grozdev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gamble manages to get himself to full guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Fedor Grozdev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Grozdev has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
