Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Persson shoots in and drives through. Ly sprawls well. Ly throws a quick inside leg kick. Persson checks a leg kick. Ly fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Persson. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Persson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ly is looking to break free of the clinch but Persson has double underhooks. Ly has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Persson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Ly is trying to break free. Persson lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ly. Ly tries to break the clinch but Persson is controlling the position. Ly is trying to break the clinch but Persson has him pressed against the cage. Ly wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. A right hand to the body from Persson.
Persson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Persson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ly. Ly misses with a leg kick. Persson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ly stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Ly is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Persson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Persson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Persson wants to control from the top but Ly keeps moving. Ly keeping full guard, as Persson tries to pass. Ly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Persson on the ground. Persson throwing strikes but missing. Persson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ly works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Persson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ly is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Persson throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Persson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ly is keeping the position for now. Persson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ly chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ly lets loose with a powerful body kick. Persson will feel that in the morning. Ly misses the body punch and Persson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Ly trying to keep a closed guard but Persson is proving a slippery customer.
Ly working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Persson. Persson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ly works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ly looking to control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Persson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ly is trying to control the position but Persson postures up. Persson wants to control from the top but Ly keeps moving. Persson cracks Ly with a solid left hand. Persson wants to control from the top but Ly keeps moving. Persson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ly misses with a few strikes there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Persson fails with the takedown. Matthew Ly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Persson shoots in but Ly avoids the takedown attempt easily. Matthew Ly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sten Persson. Persson blocks a jab. Nice body kick from Ly. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ly. Persson shrugs it off though. Ly thows a body kick. Persson tries to catch it but that hurt him. Persson ducks under a wild hook from Ly. Persson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Persson misses with a two punch combination.
Persson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ly tries a head kick but it misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ly lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ly throws a nice outside leg kick. Ly is looking to land body kicks. Persson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ly finds it's way round the side to connect with Persson's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Matthew Ly will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Persson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A clash of legs there as Persson blocks the low kick. Persson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ly. Ly with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Persson shoots in for a double leg but Ly sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Persson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ly. Ly connects with a solid leg kick. Persson shoots in but Ly avoids the takedown attempt easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Persson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A nice inside leg kick there by Ly. That's going to slow Persson down. Good leg kick by Ly there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Matthew Ly is winning the standup battle so far. Ly goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Persson's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Persson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ly. Ly obviously looking to wear him down.
Sten Persson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A kick lands to the mid section there for Ly. Ly lands with a thumping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. A solid body kick from Ly. Ly throws out a leg kick but Persson moves out of range and Ly only half commits. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ly. Persson shoots in for a takedown but Ly shows good takedown defense. Matthew Ly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sten Persson. Persson checks a leg kick. Ly stuffs the takedown. Ly throws a low kick, looking for Persson's leg but Persson calmly moves out of range. Ly throws a head kick but Persson moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Persson or perhaps it was just good defense by Ly which made him look bad. Ly gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Persson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ly is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Persson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ly's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Persson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Persson is pressing down on Ly's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ly is holding on for now. Ly wants to get back to his feet.
Persson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ly defends it well. Persson wants to control but Ly is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ly is trying to stand back up but Persson is controlling him
Persson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Persson is controlling the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Persson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ly moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A kick lands to the mid section there for Ly.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ly lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Ly buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ly scores with a jab to the jaw. Ly fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Persson manages to avoid it. Ly lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ly, right into the meat.
Ly throws a nice inside leg kick. Ly scores with a leg kick.
Persson checks the leg kick. Ly misses with a low kick. A head kick misses from Persson. Ly misses with a head kick.
Persson fails to land with a series of punches.
Ly thuds his right hand into Persson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Ly looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Persson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ly scores with a slapping inside leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Ly dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Persson throws a combination. Ly tries to block but a couple of punches get through. A nice inside leg kick there by Ly. That's going to slow Persson down. Persson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ly as he avoids it easily. Ly throws a front kick that sends Persson stumbling back into the cage. A chopping leg kick lands by Ly. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ly.
Ly is looking to slow Persson down with leg kicks. Ly scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Persson fails with a takedown attempt. Persson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ly as he avoids it easily. Matthew Ly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sten Persson. Persson throws a combination that misses and Ly counters with a nice uppercut. Ly lands with an overhand left. Ly connects with a solid leg kick. Ly dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Persson. That did some damage! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Persson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ly might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Persson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Persson tries to stand but Ly is controlling from the bottom. Persson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ly wants to stand up but Persson is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Persson landing some decent shots from guard. Persson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Persson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ly wants to stand but Persson is controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ly lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Persson slips under a jab from Ly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ly throws a leg kick that misses. Ly attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Ly slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Persson throws a right and a left that Ly avoids nicely. Persson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Persson fails with the takedown. Ly throws a nice outside leg kick. Ly waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Persson. Persson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ly! Persson misses with a head shot. Persson has control of Ly's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ly regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ly blocking the ground and pound. Sten Persson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ly is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Persson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ly because Persson loaded up on that one. Matthew Ly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Persson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matthew Ly. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
