Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdullah Al Abulbul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Anderson! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Al Abulbul throws a right hand that Anderson ducks under and follows up with a left that Anderson also avoids with ease. Anderson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Al Abulbul paws at him with a jab and circles away. Anderson tries to clinch up but Al Abulbul circles away and keeps his distance. Al Abulbul throws a jab when Anderson was well out of range. Al Abulbul shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anderson but Anderson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Al Abulbul throws out a loose jab but Anderson uses good head movement to avoid it. Anderson tries to clinch up but Al Abulbul circles away and keeps his distance. Anderson moves out of range of the strikes. Al Abulbul avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson moves in looking to clinch but Al Abulbul pushes him off. Al Abulbul keeps the fight on the outside. Al Abulbul shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Anderson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Al Abulbul, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Al Abulbul in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Anderson is pushing Al Abulbul up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Anderson lands with a short head shot on the inside. Anderson lands an elbow just above Al Abulbul 's eye.
It looks like Abdullah Al Abulbul has been cut. Anderson crunches a lovely knee into Al Abulbul's ribcage. Anderson prevents Al Abulbul from breaking the clinch. Anderson stops a takedown attempt from Al Abulbul.

Al Abulbul wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Anderson is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Al Abulbul is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Anderson lands an elbow that stopped Al Abulbul in his tracks for a moment. Abdullah Al Abulbul's cut is getting worse. Al Abulbul wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Anderson has him pressed against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. I was talking to Al Abulbul's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Anderson with a knee to the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Al Abulbul is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Anderson to keep the fight standing. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Anderson obliges. Anderson utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Alex Anderson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Abdullah Al Abulbul's cut. That's time! Al Abulbul's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Al Abulbul takes a shot right to the bread basket. Al Abulbul throws a body shot but no joy. Al Abulbul throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Anderson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Al Abulbul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Anderson drives through and clinches with Al Abulbul against the cage.
Al Abulbul is trying to maintain a safe position but Anderson gets an underhook and turns Al Abulbul into the cage. Anderson lands a body punch. Al Abulbul takes a shot to the head.
Abdullah Al Abulbul's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson lands an elbow inside.

Oh Al Abulbul is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Anderson working the clinch nicely. Al Abulbul is working for position but Anderson cracks him with a big knee to the head! Al Abulbul crumples up against the cage and Anderson lands two more shots before the ref can save Al Abulbul! This one is all over!

I'm sure this fight will eventually be ruled a 'no-contest' given how my opponent here has a habit of pissing positive for steroids.'.
