Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dziki Zwierz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammie Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dziki Zwierz!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Zwierz pulls guard effortlessly.
Day really is a fat lump.
Zwierz working a defensive guard here.
Zwierz wants to get back to his feet but Day is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Day in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zwierz trying to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Zwierz looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Day passes into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zwierz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Day defends well and Zwierz ends up having to push Day into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Day swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Dziki Zwierz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zwierz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Day but Day pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Day fires out a quick counter leg kick but Zwierz just manages to avoid it.
Sammie Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dziki Zwierz.

Zwierz has Day up against the cage in a clinch.

Zwierz manages to pull guard.
Day throwing strikes but missing.
Day is working Zwierz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Zwierz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Zwierz looking for a sweep. Not yet Zwierz, not yet.

Zwierz has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Day is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Zwierz.

Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Day gets to mount! Zwierz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Zwierz is trying desperately to improve position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Day shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Zwierz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Day throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zwierz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Zwierz has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Day off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Zwierz scores with a crisp jab that stopped Day in his tracks.

Day tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zwierz just stands there and leans against the cage.

Day pulls guard effortlessly.
Day might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Zwierz trying to control but Day is working from the bottom.
Day thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Day pulls Zwierz in close to prevent any damage.

Day looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zwierz is one step ahead there.

Day is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zwierz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zwierz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Day is on top in guard.


Zwierz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Day defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Zwierz wants to stand up but Day is controlling him.

Zwierz is looking for a triangle but Day pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zwierz pulls Day in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Zwierz fails with a takedown attempt.
Zwierz is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Zwierz ducks under a wild hook from Day.

Zwierz rushes Day and presses him up against the cage.
Day jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Zwierz walks away with a smile on his face. Day gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sammie Day will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Zwierz takes the fight into the clinch.

Zwierz breaks from the clinch.
Zwierz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Day swivels and escapes.
Zwierz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Day sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zwierz somewhat.

Zwierz takes the fight into the clinch.
Zwierz's coach down at Quick Fingers BEST BANG FOR BUCK Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Zwierz's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zwierz can do to turn this around?

Day has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Zwierz uses from the top position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Day, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
