Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Drake Kartella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kartella's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Real G's. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sergio Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Watson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis shoots in for a takedown but Kartella shows good takedown defense.

Pettis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kartella quickly recovers to half guard.
Kartella is staying active underneath Pettis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pettis is looking for a kimura here.

Pettis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Pettis is working for a kimura but Kartella is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pettis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kartella is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pettis.
Pettis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kartella defends it well.
Kartella looks to land a left hand but Pettis moved out of range nicely.

Pettis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kartella knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pettis on the ground.

Pettis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kartella is trying to defend but Pettis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Pettis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kartella keeps working.

Pettis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kartella is trying to stand up here but Pettis is controlling him well.

Pettis is keen to just control but Kartella is a slippery customer.
Pettis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Pettis maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kartella could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Pettis has cracked it and Kartella is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Pettis!

A relieved looking Sergio Pettis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Drake Kartella stepped up to the mic, saying 'Sergio and I trained long and hard for this fight. We have spend countless hours figuring out what we need to do to beat each other. I just came up short. I want a rematch. I want to win back my title and bring it home. But until then, I'm going to rest and recover, go home and spend time with my w'.
