Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Ruffarino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Craig Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rufus Ruffarino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Craig Jones! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruffarino misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones throws a big counter head kick but Ruffarino avoids it with no problem. Ruffarino throws a body kick that misses and Jones finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Ruffarino throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ruffarino looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ruffarino throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily. Jones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Jones is looking to slow Ruffarino down with leg kicks. Jones slips under a jab from Ruffarino. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ruffarino wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ruffarino is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ruffarino slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Jones stops Ruffarino from standing up. Ruffarino looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jones gets a clinch. Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ruffarino is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Ruffarino blocking some punches.
I was talking to Ruffarino's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Ruffarino tries to pull guard but Jones won't allow it.
Ruffarino prevents a body shot from Jones. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ruffarino. Ruffarino wants the takedown. Jones is fighting it off but Ruffarino persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jones's guard against the cage. Jones has Ruffarino pulled in close to control his posture. Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ruffarino defends it easily. Ruffarino sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruffarino wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Ruffarino is proving a slippery customer.
Ruffarino is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Jones wants to control the position but Ruffarino says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Jones preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ruffarino pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jones trying to control here.
Jones is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jones should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ruffarino looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Jones trying to control but Ruffarino postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Craig Jones will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ruffarino is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruffarino. Ruffarino throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Ruffarino fails with a takedown attempt. Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ruffarino tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Ruffarino's guard. Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones trying to control but Ruffarino is working from the bottom. Ruffarino is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Ruffarino has an active guard here but Jones has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jones wants to control but Ruffarino is keeping him busy. Jones not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next. Ruffarino wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ruffarino is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ruffarino with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Jones seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Ruffarino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to take a breather but Ruffarino is having none of it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ruffarino throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Ruffarino is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rufus Ruffarino. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruffarino darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Ruffarino into the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones throws the kick towards the body but Ruffarino avoids it. Ruffarino wants to clinch and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick. Jones missing with a left hand there. Ruffarino was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jones pushes Ruffarino away with a front kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones has closed the distance and engaged Ruffarino in a clinch.
Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but Ruffarino avoids the damage to the body. Ruffarino is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Jones has a couple of punches blocked by Ruffarino.

Ruffarino has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Jones misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruffarino jumps guard but Jones turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Jones lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ruffarino backwards. Jones tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ruffarino is trying to pull guard but Jones has him pressed against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Ruffarino looking to score a takedown here. Jones is defending well but Ruffarino drives through and ends up in Jones's guard. Ruffarino has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jones wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Jones wants to sweep here but Ruffarino controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruffarino is sitting in close to Jones's body. Jones has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ruffarino is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ruffarino is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jones.
