The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That kick from Nygma tenderised Hartman's leg. Hartman is trying to keep his angry face on. Nygma moves into range and clinches up with Hartman. Hartman wants a takedown but no success here.
Hartman definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Nygma tries to land knees in the clinch but Hartman avoids the damage to the body. Hartman blocks a body shot from Nygma. Nygma with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Hartman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Hartman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nygma got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hartman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nygma has managed to get both his arms back between Hartman's legs - danger averted. Hartman looking for a sweep. Not yet Hartman, not yet. Nygma must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hartman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nygma gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hartman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nygma doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hartman is tightening it up a little... Nygma has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Nygma reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Nygma taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hartman!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). James Hartman! James Hartman retains his bantamweight title! James Hartman thanked the fans post fight for their support.
