PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elliott Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Jacobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elliott Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Jacobi!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howe tries to keep at a distance but Jacobi has taken the fight into the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Howe - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Jacobi has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Howe is trying to keep an underhook but Jacobi manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Howe is trying to control but can't.
Jacobi wants to take a breather but Howe is having none of it.
Jacobi tries to pass to full mount but Howe defends it.
Howe wants to control but Jacobi is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Howe leaves Jacobi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jacobi feints and as Howe raises his hands in defense, Jacobi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jacobi wants to pass the guard but Howe is keeping the position.
Howe keeping moving, preventing Jacobi from controlling successfully.
Howe is trying to keep Jacobi in close.
Howe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jacobi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jacobi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Howe wants to get back to his feet but Jacobi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jacobi darts in looking for a takedown but Howe gets double underhooks and turns Jacobi into the cage.

Howe wants to get back to his feet but Jacobi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Brandon Jacobi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jacobi has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Howe uses from the top position.

Jacobi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Howe's waist but Howe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jacobi off to one side.
Howe tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jacobi manages to circle out of the way.

Jacobi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Howe but Howe pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Howe pushes Jacobi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jacobi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Howe darts in and clinches Jacobi up against the cage.
Jacobi has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Howe after a bit of a struggle.
