Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rama Udo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Raul Jimenez ! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Udo missing with a left hand there. Jimenez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jimenez feints the counter takedown. Jimenez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Udo is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Udo tries to improve position but can't. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jimenez working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Jimenez is looking to take a break and control but Udo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jimenez working away. Udo is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jimenez controls the position. Udo tries to improve position but can't. Jimenez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Udo's legs. Udo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jimenez .
That's one minute gone in the round. Jimenez throws a strike aimed at the side of Udo's head but Udo avoids it well. Jimenez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Udo's coaches at Team Butcher Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Jimenez laying and praying for a moment but Udo takes advantage and regains half guard. Udo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Jimenez wants to pass the guard but Udo is defending well. Jimenez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Udo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jimenez on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jimenez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Jimenez throwing shots but Udo is blocking nicely. Jimenez throwing shots but Udo is blocking nicely. Jimenez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Udo keeps working. Jimenez trying to mount his opponent but Udo defends it. Jimenez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jimenez tries to pass to full mount but Udo defends it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jimenez is looking to take a break and control but Udo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jimenez looks for a takedown but Udo sprawls well. Udo swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Jimenez with a lazy takedown attempt and Udo counters with a two punch combo. Left hook, right uppercut from Udo. Jimenez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Udo sprawls well. Udo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jimenez gets slowly back to his feet. Udo throwing a counter right hand but Jimenez manages to avoid it. Rama Udo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raul Jimenez . Udo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Udo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A little jabbing left from Jimenez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Udo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jimenez 's sensitive parts. Jimenez goes for a double leg but Udo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Udo continues to drive forward.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Udo digs a good hook to Jimenez 's body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jimenez checks a low kick from Udo. Udo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A right-left combo lands from Udo. Jimenez with a poor takedown and Udo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Udo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Udo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jimenez momentarily.
Udo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jimenez has time to react. Jimenez looks for a takedown but Udo sprawls well. Nice cross by Udo. Jimenez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rama Udo dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jimenez shoots in but Udo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Udo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Jimenez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Udo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Horrible takedown attempt by Jimenez or perhaps it was just good defense by Udo, which made it look bad. Udo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Rama Udo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raul Jimenez . Udo connects with an inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Udo jabs Jimenez to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jimenez shoots in for a takedown. Udo connects with a body shot. Jab by Udo. Udo misses with a wild body shot. Jimenez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Udo counters with a slapping leg kick. Jimenez fails with the takedown and Udo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A good leg kick by Udo. Udo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Udo, as that shot connected.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Udo, right into the meat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Udo clobbers Jimenez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jimenez misses with a takedown attempt and Udo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Udo scores with a jab to the head.
Udo stuffs the takedown. Udo keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Udo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Udo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jimenez on the side of the head. Jimenez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jimenez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Udo.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jimenez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Udo. That's going to slow Jimenez down. Jimenez shoots in but no luck this time. Udo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Nice takedown defense from Udo. No joy for Jimenez on that attempt. Sloppy strikes from Udo. Those never looked like landing. Jimenez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Udo but Udo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Udo half committed to a counter leg kick. Udo lands a jab to Jimenez 's midsection. Jimenez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Udo to score with a decent uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Udo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Udo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Udo connects with a crisp jab. Jimenez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Udo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Udo stuffs the takedown attempt from Jimenez . Jimenez gets slowly back to his feet. Jimenez has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Udo lands a leg kick that knocks Jimenez off balance momentarily. Udo scores with a three punch combo!
Jimenez misses with a takedown and Udo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Udo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jimenez can do to turn this around? Donk. Udo catches Jimenez right on the button with a cross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimenez fails to land the takedown. Udo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Udo fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Jimenez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Udo lands a really nice looking cross but Jimenez seems unphased.
Jimenez is rocked! Udo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jimenez . Jimenez circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Jimenez is still on wobbly legs! Can Udo finish him? Udo closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Jimenez ! Udo dives in looking to finish! Jimenez is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rama Udo! Rama Udo retains his lightweight title!
