Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Shaffer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmothy Todd! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Todd gets in close and instigates a clinch. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Todd has picked Shaffer up - he's going for a ride! Todd dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Todd performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Shaffer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Todd is working away from the top position though. Todd is figuring out what he wants to do next. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Todd tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Todd escapes and gets back to his feet. Shaffer tries to sprawl but Todd drives through with a takedown into half guard. Shaffer is staying active underneath Todd, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Todd stands up out of the half guard. Shaffer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Todd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shaffer moves away. As Todd tries to get set, Shaffer tries to push him back and clinch up but Todd manages to avoid the attempt. Shaffer tries to sprawl but Todd drives through with a takedown into half guard. Shaffer is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Todd keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Todd is trying to work for a kimura but Shaffer is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Todd prevents Shaffer from improving his position. Shaffer is trying to control but Todd passes into side control!

Shaffer struggling a bit here. Shaffer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Todd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Todd wants to control but Shaffer is keeping him busy. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Shaffer tries to roll over but Todd keeps him under control.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Shaffer tries to sprawl but Todd drives through with a takedown into half guard. Todd looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Shaffer trying to control from the bottom.
Todd trying to pass the guard but Shaffer defending well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Todd trying to control from half guard but Shaffer is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmothy Todd dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Todd changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shaffer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Todd working away. Todd tries to score with some ground and pound. Shaffer controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Shaffer throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Shaffer wants to control but Todd postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Todd is looking to take a break and control but Shaffer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shaffer is looking to regain half guard here but Todd keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaffer seems a little lost for a moment, as Todd dominates the positioning.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Todd looking to score a takedown here. Shaffer is defending well but Todd drives through and ends up in Shaffer's guard. Shaffer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jimmothy Todd has got the better of the ground game so far. Todd controlling from the top position. Shaffer tries to strike from the bottom.
Todd should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Todd shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shaffer is trying to defend but Todd finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaffer wants to control but Todd is keeping busy and won't allow it. Shaffer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Todd. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaffer flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Todd throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Shaffer to regain full guard. Shaffer working a defensive guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shaffer tries to sprawl but Todd drives through with a takedown into half guard. Shaffer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Shaffer manages to get to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Todd throwing strikes from guard but Shaffer blocks nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd clinches up against the cage. Shaffer leaning his opponent against the cage. Todd can't break the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Shaffer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Todd is keeping busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Todd manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Todd darts in and clinches Shaffer up against the cage. Todd pulls guard. Todd has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Shaffer won't allow Todd to sweep him here. Todd looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shaffer puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaffer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Todd with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Todd looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Todd kicks Shaffer off and gets back to his feet. A punch combination from Shaffer misses. Todd fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shaffer to the ground. Todd is now in Shaffer's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Todd would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Todd passes Shaffer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Todd throws a strike but Shaffer avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Todd advances to half guard. Shaffer keeping hold of Todd's head, controlling as best he can. Todd works his way into side control. Todd takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shaffer wants to control but Todd postures up. Todd has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaffer is not content to let Todd control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Todd moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
And that's the end of the fight! Jimmothy Todd comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Todd has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
