Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santos Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Bubba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Goncalves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Doug Bubba! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bubba doesn't manage to clinch there - Goncalves circles away.
Goncalves tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bubba defends well and Goncalves ends up having to push Bubba into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch. Bubba throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bubba stuffs the takedown. A nice side step and Bubba releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Goncalves fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santos Goncalves. That's going to take a lot out of him. A head kick misses from Bubba. Goncalves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bubba.
Goncalves dives in and grabs Bubba's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bubba pushes down on Goncalves's head and hops out. Bubba is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Goncalves's half guard. Goncalves actively working from the bottom here. Goncalves gets back to full guard.
Goncalves is looking for a triangle but Bubba pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bubba wants to control from the top but Goncalves keeps moving. Bubba must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bubba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bubba is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Goncalves has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bubba is looking to defend but Goncalves has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bubba! Goncalves pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bubba taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Santos Goncalves! A relieved looking Santos Goncalves thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
