Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Daniels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Miguel Ortega! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortega looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Daniels is fending him off so far but Ortega persists. Nope, Daniels circles away and we're back to standing. Daniels tries to clinch up but Ortega circles away and keeps his distance. Daniels with a poor takedown and Ortega counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Daniels tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ortega has control of Daniels's left arm, preventing Daniels from doing any damage. Daniels trying to control but Ortega is working from the bottom. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ortega dives in and grabs Daniels's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ortega lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Ortega is pushing down on Daniels's leg trying to pass to half guard. Daniels is fighting to maintain full guard but Ortega has managed to sneak the leg through. Daniels is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daniels tries to roll over but Ortega keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortega tries to pass to full mount but Daniels defends it. Ortega seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Ortega has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Ortega is working for a submission of some sort.
Ortega seems to be working for a kimura but Daniels defends the submission attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Daniels is refusing to be controlled, as Ortega sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will he get it? Ortega is fending him off so far but Daniels persists. Nope, Ortega circles away and we're back to standing. Daniels gets tackled into the cage by Ortega. Ortega maintains the clinch. Daniels takes a shot to the head. Ortega manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Daniels with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Daniels wants to control from the top but Ortega keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels being controlled here momentarily. Daniels wants to stand and escape but instead Ortega has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Ortega must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ortega has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Daniels wants to stand but Ortega is controlling the position. That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Daniels wants to get back to his feet but Ortega is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Daniels will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Daniels not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Daniels throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ortega's waist but Ortega gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Daniels off to one side. Miguel Ortega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Daniels tries to clinch but Ortega moves out of range. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ortega. Ortega fails with a takedown attempt. Jake Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Ortega.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. And that's the end of the fight! Miguel Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ortega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
