Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dominique Woodward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Dias! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodward slips a jab and a cross from Dias.
Dias misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Woodward really is a fat lump. No joy there for Dias, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dias misses with a double jab.
Woodward throwing a counter right hand but Dias manages to avoid it. Dias swings for the body but Woodward moves out of range.
Dias is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Dias tries to work over Woodward's front leg with a kick but Woodward checks it. Woodward closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Dias looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dias looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Woodward is looking for a kimura but Dias is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Woodward to get the leverage. Woodward seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woodward throwing shots but Dias is blocking nicely. Woodward is nestled in close to Dias, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Woodward is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Woodward throws a strike but Dias avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Woodward loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Woodward prevents Dias from getting back to his feet. Woodward throws a strike but Dias rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Dias wanted to stand there but Woodward had control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodward manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Dias has closed the distance and engaged Woodward in a clinch.

Woodward takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Dominique Woodward has been cut. Dias fails to land with a series of punches.
This has been an exciting period of action! Dias tries to close the distance and clinch up but Woodward swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dias moves out of range as Woodward throws a body kick.
Dias throws a counter combo. Dias looks to throw a body kick and Woodward counters with a series of strikes. Dias will be more careful next time no doubt. Dias thows a body kick. Woodward tries to catch it but that hurt him. Dias with a body punch. A glancing blow.

A head kick misses from Dias. Dias looks winded! Dias throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Woodward. Woodward avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dias looks to throw a body kick and Woodward counters with a nice double leg into guard. Woodward won't allow Dias to get back to his feet. Woodward drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dias looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dias looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dias!
Woodward has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dias tries to stand but Woodward is controlling his head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woodward misses with an elbow from the bottom. Dias working away. Woodward gets back to half guard. Woodward controlling the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
William Dias dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dominique Woodward's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Dias throws a right and a left that Woodward avoids nicely. Dias looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Dias throws a right hand that Woodward ducks under and follows up with a left that Woodward also avoids with ease. Woodward attempts a counter takedown but Dias avoids it well and moves away. Dias tries to clinch but Woodward is having none of it. Dias throws a nice looking combination but Woodward bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Woodward moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Dias tries to clinch but Woodward is having none of it. It looked like Woodward was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. A combination from Dias does no damage. A thudding body kick lands there by Dias!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dias fails with an attempt to clinch.
Woodward walks forward, straight into a front kick from Dias. Dias instigates a clinch. Woodward stalling in the clinch but Dias improves position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woodward tries to break the clinch but Dias is controlling the position. Woodward will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dias up against the cage. Dias has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dias misses with a body kick. William Dias seems to be getting the better of the standup. The fight stays on the outside here - Dias looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dias tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. It looked like Woodward was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Dias fails in his attempt to clinch. Woodward half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Woodward takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dias fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Woodward has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Some wild striking there from Dias.
Woodward appears to be looking for a big counter. Dias is breathing heavily.

Dias tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Woodward manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. William Dias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dias misses with a series of wild punches.
Dias throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Dias misses with a combination
and Woodward counters with a two punch combo. Dias tries to clinch up. Woodward shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dias napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Woodward tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Woodward has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Woodward throws an elbow but Dias slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodward postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Woodward swings around for an armbar but Dias sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Woodward's guard. Dias wanted to stand there but Woodward had control of the position. Woodward has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Woodward wants to stand and escape but Dias is having none of it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Woodward pushes Dias off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Dias fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dias's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dias duly obliges. Woodward takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Dias takes the fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
William Dias showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Dominique Woodward's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
A head kick by Dias misses and Woodward counters with a left and a right that stings Dias. Dias will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dias tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Woodward gets a double leg takedown into Dias's guard. Woodward throwing strikes from guard but Dias blocks nicely. Dias tries to clinch but Woodward moves away and Woodward decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dias's guard. Woodward throws a big right hand that misses. Woodward working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dias avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woodward would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Dias preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Woodward postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Woodward with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Dias wants to clinch and Woodward decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dias's guard. Dias preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. I wouldn't like to be where Woodward is right now. You can see the frustration on Woodward's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
