PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Stones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Alstot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddie Alstot told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alstot misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stones doesn't manage to clinch there - Alstot circles away.

Stones wants to take the fight to the mat but Alstot manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Stones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Alstot gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Alstot throws an overhand right that lands on Stones's shoulder, as Stones tries to avoid the shot.

and Alstot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Alstot felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alstot isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stones stacks Alstot on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stones!

Stones throws an elbow but Alstot slips to the side and avoids it well.

Stones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alstot is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stones is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alstot.
Alstot fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Stones checks it well.
Alstot changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stones tries to avoid it but Alstot manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stones to the ground. Stones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Alstot throws a body shot but no joy.
Alstot throws a shot from downtown. Stones moves away and avoids it.
Stones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Alstot misses with a body kick.
Oh Stones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eddie Alstot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alstot dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Stones has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Eddie Alstot!
After the fight, Eddie Alstot was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
