Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Jamison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ansgar Kurucz! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurucz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jamison breaks the clinch.
Kurucz lands with a right hand.
It looks like John Jamison has been cut. Kurucz throws a right hand that Jamison ducks under and follows up with a left that Jamison also avoids with ease. Jamison changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Kurucz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jamison stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kurucz throws a predictable looking body shot
and Jamison counters with a shoot takedown. Kurucz fights it but they end up in guard. Kurucz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jamison is aware though and is defending well. Kurucz wants to stand and escape but Jamison is having none of it. Kurucz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jamison postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Jamison missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jamison distracts Kurucz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jamison connects with a couple of short punches. Kurucz tries to strike from the bottom.
Kurucz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jamison is aware though and is defending well. Kurucz keeping moving, preventing Jamison from controlling successfully. Jamison scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jamison wants to control from the top but Kurucz keeps moving. Kurucz has momentary wrist control but Jamison slips an elbow through the middle. Jamison missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kurucz wants to sweep but no luck. Jamison pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kurucz is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jamison trying to control but Kurucz is working from the bottom. Jamison got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kurucz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jamison has managed to get both his arms back between Kurucz's legs - danger averted. Kurucz has his foot on Jamison's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jamison works his way back into a safe position though. Jamison works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jamison is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kurucz is just riding it out for now. Jamison eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jamison working over Kurucz with some ground and pound. Kurucz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kurucz has hold of Jamison's hands but Jamison slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jamison seems to be working for a kimura but Kurucz defends the submission attempt. Kurucz wants to improve his position but Jamison is controlling well.
Jamison works his way into side control. Kurucz striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Jamison has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kurucz wants to get back to his feet but Jamison drags him back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jamison trying to control the position but Kurucz is working away. Kurucz throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Kurucz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kurucz is trying to get back to half guard. Jamison wants to control but Kurucz is keeping him busy. Jamison grinds an elbow into Kurucz's temple. Kurucz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kurucz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kurucz is looking to work some ground and pound but Jamison has wrist control. Jamison has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kurucz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jamison looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kurucz with a flurry of punches that miss. Jamison wants to sweep here but Kurucz controlling him for the moment. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kurucz throws a big right hand that misses. Jamison is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

This has been an exciting period of action! Kurucz is looking to get to half guard. Jamison postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kurucz looks a forlorn figure.
Kurucz gets back to half guard. Jamison is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Kurucz is trying to stand.
Jamison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kurucz keeps working. Jamison scoring with strikes to the body and head. Kurucz actively working from the bottom here. Jamison is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

John Jamison overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kurucz looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Jamison pushes past his half guard into mount! Kurucz really wants to buck Jamison off and get back to his feet. Jamison lands a big shot there that rocks Kurucz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jamison pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Jamison lands with some strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kurucz is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kurucz tries to improve his position but Jamison has taken his back! Jamison has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Kurucz tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Jamison pushes Kurucz away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Jamison! A relieved looking John Jamison thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
