Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregorio Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregorio Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Roach!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roach shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leonard napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Leonard holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Roach controlling the position from side mount.
Roach sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Leonard is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roach working away.
Roach tries to move to mount but Leonard blocks the move with his legs.
Roach content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leonard tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Leonard takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


It looks like Gregorio Leonard has been cut.
Leonard is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leonard is working hard here to advance position.
Leonard really is a fat lump.
Leonard gets back to half guard.
Leonard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Leonard.
Leonard tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Leonard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Roach is controlling him.

Roach throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Leonard works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Leonard slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Roach is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Leonard wants to sweep but no luck.
Leonard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Leonard looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Roach slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Roach bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leonard's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roach throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Leonard dives in and scores a takedown into Roach's guard.
Leonard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Roach is trying to control the position but Leonard postures up.
Leonard tries to stand but Roach is controlling from the bottom.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Simon Roach has got the better of the ground game so far.

Leonard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Leonard enables Roach to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Leonard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Leonard controls Roach momentarily but Roach frees himself.
Roach's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Roach postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Leonard wants to sweep here but Roach controlling him for the moment.
Leonard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roach controls the pace.
Let's hope that Roach has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Roach tries to score a power double leg takedown but Leonard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roach somewhat.
Roach fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Leonard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leonard showed some decent athleticism there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roach can do anything to dispel that myth.
Roach is pressing down on Leonard's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Leonard in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Roach has his foot on Leonard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Leonard works his way back into a safe position though.
Leonard lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Roach throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Leonard tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roach is in Leonard's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Roach throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Leonard tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roach is in Leonard's guard.
Leonard pulls Roach in close to his closed guard and prevents Roach from doing any damage or advancing position.
Roach must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Roach advances to half guard.
Roach is controlling the pace.

Roach moves nicely into side control.
Leonard tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Roach easily slips into full mount!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Roach wants to control the pace but Leonard is squirming around nicely.

Roach tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Leonard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Roach has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

I think Roach has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
