Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Valentin Shovkovskyj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Valentin Shovkovskyj! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Sock! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shovkovskyj fails with the takedown and Sock counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Shovkovskyj has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sock finds it's way round the side to connect with Shovkovskyj's head. Sock scores with a shot to the body.
Shovkovskyj stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shovkovskyj wants it to stay on the feet. It looked like Shovkovskyj was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Sock with a nice cross. Nice sprawl there from Shovkovskyj as Sock shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sock throws a good cross that connects.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sock lands with a nice body punch. Sock gets a clinch. Shovkovskyj misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Sock throws a head punch that misses. Shovkovskyj tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sock avoids it. Shovkovskyj gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Shovkovskyj wants to take a breather but Sock is having none of it. Shovkovskyj is really struggling to control Sock but he's trying to hold on to the position. Sock wants to get back to full guard. Shovkovskyj is looking for a kimura but Sock is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shovkovskyj to get the leverage. Shovkovskyj is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sock wants to get back to full guard. Shovkovskyj is trying to work for a kimura but Sock is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Shovkovskyj pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sock is keeping the position for now. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sock is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Sock misses with a head shot. Shovkovskyj uses the momentum to regain guard. Sock throwing strikes but missing. Shovkovskyj keeping moving, preventing Sock from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sock throwing strikes from guard but Shovkovskyj blocks nicely. Jack Sock dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shovkovskyj fails to land the takedown. Sock looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Jack Sock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sock scores with a takedown into Shovkovskyj's guard. Shovkovskyj seems keen to control Sock's posture. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shovkovskyj pulls Sock in close to prevent any damage. Sock missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sock in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shovkovskyj works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sock has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Sock throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Valentin Shovkovskyj is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shovkovskyj walks into a jab. Shovkovskyj walks into a straight right hand from Sock. Shovkovskyj is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Sock scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Shovkovskyj doesn't seem bothered though. Sock lands with a straight right. Shovkovskyj didn't see that one coming. That's two minutes gone in the round. Sock cracks Shovkovskyj with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Sock shoots in looking for a takedown. Shovkovskyj tries to sprawl out of it but Sock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shovkovskyj manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Good standup being displayed there by Sock as he connects with a hook. Sock keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sock should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sock changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Sock moves into the clinch. Sock dodges an elbow strike from Shovkovskyj.
Sock misses with a short punch on the inside. Sock is fighting off a takedown attempt but Shovkovskyj is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sock to the mat. Sock regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sock trying to control the position.
Shovkovskyj drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sock manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shovkovskyj has Sock in his guard.
Sock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shovkovskyj utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sock not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Sock with a flurry of punches that miss. Shovkovskyj can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sock controls the pace. Sock postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Sock wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Shovkovskyj takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Sock tests Shovkovskyj's chin there with a solid looking shot. Shovkovskyj shoots in but Sock avoids the takedown attempt easily. Shovkovskyj throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sock counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Sock tests Shovkovskyj's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Sock's corner calls for a 1-2. Sock obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Jack Sock seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sock keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sock throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Shovkovskyj on the side of the head. Sock darts in and clinches Shovkovskyj up against the cage. Shovkovskyj is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sock is defending well. Shovkovskyj works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Sock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shovkovskyj is one step ahead there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sock is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
